Missed the two best ports due to weather; the ship is too small and lacks variety in food, entertainment, decks, excursions....disappointing for a high end cruise. The staff however was amazing and unparalleled in service.
Azamara Pursuit Cruise Review to Europe - Western Mediterranean
38th anniversary cruise was so disappointing although the bad weather- flooding and 90 mph winds when we reached Livorno was not the ship's fault. I think Azamara could have done more to substitute/compensate than require you to book another cruise. The ship is too small for us; too little variety; too sedentary. But lovely staff and you are treated well. The special events are great and the food then is also. Otherwise not worth it.

The few entertainers were outstanding; but not enough; nothing on sea day.
Service and Staff

When we complained about missing the best ports, Azamara stated we should mention it in the survey; no one really to talk to about compensation. The compensation was $500 on another cruise and only Azamara; and all ships are the same; so we gave it up.

Not that different than other balconies; small veranda. Great housekeeping.
Ship tip
Not a good choice for active travelers who like to walk the decks, exercise, variety. Claustraphobic.
Rome is a long way from the port. This means a $75 per person cab/shuttle or a long walk to the train station and about an hour. Nice people in Civitavecchia, with some touches of Roman architecture but certainly no substitute for any of Rome's grand attractions.
The best thing is to take a cab to the Tuscan villages which costs about $360 euros ($450 US) so if you are not sharing a cab-very steep. Ship did not offer the two best together which we consider San Gimagnano and Volterra.
The ship docked in Nice instead due to weather and offered a shuttle to Monte Carlo. Nice was literally steps away with a wonderful port area, restaurants, the old area and inexpensive public buses to Eze Villages. Great stop.
Beautiful, clean upscale island with very friendly people and quite walkable. Take the hop on hop off bus around and if you are over 65 it is half price.
This was an early embarkation so not possible to tour it with Azamara. But we stayed overnight and Sagrada Famila is one of the most beautiful sites on earth. A must see. People are so helpful and although it is a big city; it Spain in every way.
