Review summary

Hurricane Dorian was approaching our ship from the south. The ship's captain hurried the ship back to New Jersey ahead of the storm. We arrived in New Jersey 12 hours ahead of schedule and avoided the hurricane. We arrived at night into port. The captain took the ship up the Hudson River past the Statue of Liberty at night. Amazing view of the statue and New York skyline at night. Hats off to the captain!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

2 out of 5
Food was average. Desserts were fair. Buffet seating was limited for the size of the ship. Finding a table was always difficult. Not enough beverage stations. This was the largest ship we have sailed on. I felt crowded in the buffet.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Sport court is great. Table tennis. Bumper cars.

Entertainment

2 out of 5
Acoustics in royal theater was poor (we tried several different areas. Difficult to hear lyrics. We could not understand the storyline for the show "The Gift". As I was walking out of the theater I heard several guests ask "What was that about?". Musical "We Will Rock You" was difficult to follow. The show "Spectra's Cabaret" was bizarre. We could not understand the dialogue or lyrics. 2 comedians were excellent along with a male vocalist. One night in the main theater was "Name that Tune" game show instead of a production. These type of games are usually done during the day and not in place of a show.

Cabin / Stateroom

A little larger than previous cabins. Virtual balcony was nice.

Ship tip

Have someone in your party look for a table in the buffet and SAVE it! You might have to stand by a table where another party is finishing and "claim' it. Don't try to find a table after you have a plate of food.
