Review summary

Excellent cruise, excellent ship, really good ports, Bermuda being the finest of course. Good food, shows and shopping. A cruise is what you make it. Nobody's perfect, not the guests or the workers, so just enjoy it for what it is. oh, great desserts!! Lol.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Our embarkation experience was painless, quick and easy. The staff members are so friendly and they seem genuinely excited for you to be going on your cruise. They're the start to your great experience.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
We are buffet professionals. Lol. This time we didn't get to the main dining rooms or the specialty restaurants. The buffet is just so...easy. We love the relaxation aspect of it. It's come as you are. The food is good, sometimes great, sometimes not so great. But never terrible and always better than what I can cook at home. That alone makes it great for me. Our friends did however express that they thoroughly enjoyed the dining rooms and specialty restaurants.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
I have been on a number of Royal cruises watching activities. this time I took part. I thoroughly enjoyed the Flowrider for my first time. I'm still scared to fall but I did it! Awesome fun. Bumper cars...great!! Driving around smiling and laughing with strangers, how cool is that! Ripcord by iFly...cool as ever!! Everyone should do that. I've always wanted to fly. Northstar, got on that whilst in Bermuda...fabulous view in that bubble. Nice experience. Missed the rock climbing wall-it rained when I decided to go and I missed the roller skating. Next time I guess. There will be a next time.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The ship's shows were good! The shows had good variety, all pretty different. Great singers, good stage band, good clean comedian. I did miss the show every night that is usual on most of Royal's ships. On the Anthem you basically pre-book the shows they offer so you can end up with an evening or two where there's no show. There are always other things to do but we love watching the shows every evening.

Children's Programs

I have no kids.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
I felt that the service on the Anthem was very good. The Windjammer staff were helpful and ver friendly. The room steward was nice though we've had much better room stewards who called us by name and was very outgoing. The Flowrider personnel were really good, very good teachers.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The ship's layout was definitely different from all other classes of Royal's ships. Slightly overwhelming initially but they really smartly made good use of all spaces. Deck 4 can get too closely crowded during my favorite $10 watch sale. Lol. All common areas were clean. The only uncleanliness you find on that ship is from people inconsiderate of their fellow ship mates. People will leave a plate or glasses or food, whatever, wherever they want. on an elevator floor, on the steps, on any floor anywhere, on railings, etc. People can be really dirty and inconsiderate because they think they paid for people to clean up after them, but you should be considering fellow ship mates.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Our balcony cabin was fabulous. Nice and spacious. Good storage places. Found out on Day 3 that above the bed are 2 storage cupboards/cabinets. Who knew...just looked like above board design. Impressive. Loved it!

Ship tip

Get ready for hard toilet paper! Septic compliant and biodegradable yes, but not bumpy friendly. :-) They have sinks where you must wash your hands with soap and water before you enter the Windjammer! Love it! Best thing on the ship!! No more being forced to use that nasty toxic hand sanitizer. I wish they could update all of their ships with the sinks but I know its not possible.

Ports of call

Disembarkation port, good shopping.

King's Wharf, Bermuda

5 out of 5
What can I say. This is Bermuda...most beautiful island in the world!! Believe it! Come see it.

Philipsburg, St. Maarten

4 out of 5
St. Maarten was a good stop. We did a bus tour of the Dutch and French side of the island. Great tour guide, nice time.

San Juan, Puerto Rico

4 out of 5
I love to just shop in San Juan. We get off the ship and walk through the streets. Love it!

Labadee (Cruise Line Private Island)

4 out of 5
We've been to Labadee so many times. This is the first time we did an excursion. The zip line. It was great!!! I must do it again. We're not beach goers so Labadee hasn't thrilled us. We generally just get off the ship around noon, walk through and back to the ship. I think I will jet ski as well.

Disembarkation

Soooooo easy and quick.

Perfect cruising attitude!! You rate a 5-star fellow cruiser whom also has a fondness for desserts. Nice!
