Review summary

Overall a pretty good cruise. The entertainment was great, the food needs improvement.

Embarkation

The lines were not clear and it wasn’t clear where you are supposed to go

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

2 out of 5
Main dining room was very mid to bad. Things were not well seasoned and quality of the food was not good. Service was also very slow. An hour and a half for dinner is way too long especially when you are with dining with kids

Johnny Rockets

2 out of 5

I had a chicken sandwich. The chicken was chewy and they forgot my milk shake. I reminded them a few times and finally got it to go because we had finished eating already. It had clearly been made a while ago and was just sitting out as it was runny and warm for a milk shake.

Samba Grill

4 out of 5

This was the best food on board. The filet and chicken were favorites in our group. The side dishes were also very good.

Sabor

Most of the food was disappointing. Not well seasoned and lacking flavor. It also open air seating so it was very hot too. The redeeming quality was the dessert which was good.

Entertainment

Amber Theater

4 out of 5

We watched Mama Mia and it was great. Even my 6 year old sat though the whole thing and said he liked it. 5 stars for that show don’t miss it. We also watched blue planet here and it was just okay. The performers were again excellent and did great with what they had to work with. The material isn’t good. It’s hard to follow and unless you sit dead center in the theater you aren’t going to get a good view of the acrobats. 3 stars for this show, it’s one I’d say is okay to miss, which is unfortunate because the performers are really excellent.

Studio B

This show was good. The show though is the same as it was 10 years ago when we went on Allure. The performers were great but the material is in bed of a refresh.

Aqua Theater

Amazing, don’t miss it.

Children's Programs

Our children didn’t enjoy adventure ocean. They complained that they couldn’t do independently activities and group activities were very slow.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Staff were pretty good to great. They got pretty pushy about the after cruise survey. Our room attendant seemed really inconvenienced any time we asked for things, just extra pillows and enough wash cloths for everyone to have one, but we did get what we needed. Waiters were good and helpful in the windjammer when trying to find a place to sit.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
The ship in definitely in need of the upgrades that were pushed off due to Covid. Hopefully it gets those upgrades soon.

Cabin / Stateroom

Great location. Quick access to the elevator. We love Central Park especially at night so it was great to have it so close. It’s also not much of a walk to go down to the MDR or to the royal promenade.

Ports of call

Cozumel, Mexico

We went to Playa Mia. It was nice. The beach was nicely kept and has soft sand. The water sports and features are great. We did the kayak and the water bikes. We aren’t heavy drinkers but the pina colada was great and the included bottled water was great. The only negative our group thought of was the food. They have an “international” buffet. It’s a pretty random assortment of food. The best thing was the fajitas. I wish they would have had more local food or if they wanted to be more Americanized then Tex mex food would be great.

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

4 out of 5
We did the aviary at the port. It was self paced and not crowded. We saw lots of animals and you walk over an area that does dolphin encounters so you get to see the dolphins fairly close too. Getting to the excursion was kind of rough. Long lines and waiting just for someone to walk you 5 minutes from the meeting point and cut you lose to do your own thing.

Coxen Hole, Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras

3 out of 5
We did the Maya Key excursion. The beach is not very nice so we didn’t spend much time in the ocean. The pool was nice. The food was not very good. The favorite part among our group was the animal encounter. They got to hold a monkey.

Disembarkation

3 out of 5
It was a bit chaotic with long lines to get off the ship. Maybe it was because the lines were so long or people just needing to leave earlier than they were scheduled, but most of the people around us were in groups that hadn’t been called for disembarkation yet. Staff did nothing to keep it orderly
