GREAT CRUISE! by wmitchell

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

Wow... we had a blast on this cruise! You don't spend too much time on the ship and go to some FANTASTIC destinations. I would do this cruise again in a heartbeat!

Royal Carribbean customer service and staff was great and the food was delicious! Main reason I would cruise with RC again!

7 Nights, Adventure of the Seas by GoldRoyalCruise

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

One of several Royal Caribbean cruises we've taken, this one was the best of all.  Ship was clean, well maintained. Crew was excellent, particularly room steward and main dining waiters.  Ports of call were excellent with multiple tour options.

Not what is expected of Royal Caribbean by pwmsn

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

This is the third time we've cruised with Royal Caribbean and we had high hopes; however, service everywhere except the dining room was marginal at best.  All the little things that stay with you and make you stick with one cruise line are gone.  Also, the food was not great...some days not even good.  My husband was ill two days of our cruise and because of the timing and symptoms, he could only guess it was the food at the Windjammer.  There wasn't much to do on the ship and the "shopping expert"  was not helpful when we had a situation at one particular store.  His counterpart for another cruise ship was in the same store and was very helpful to her passengers.

Total RELAXATION! by DDOUGLAS65

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

I must say this trip was well worth the long plane ride to Puerto Rico.  The adult solarium area was my favorite part of the ship.  The the staff was very nice and very accomodating.

Good experience but things could have been better! by FloridaCruise4

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

I enjoyed the cruise in retrospect, beautiful clean ship, good food, the my time dining which allowed for a personal table for our party of 4.

However, I felt that courtesy for other passengers were missing from one group who dominated the ship. Also, I think the higher price was not justified for the experience when compared with other cruise lines. I have cruised with Carnival, Princess, Norwegian. I like to have different experiences.  One last comment is that the ice skating rink required tickets. That was paid for in the cruise cost so an additional step should not be required when life should be not stressed on board.

Lots of Fun by lmcosco

Ols San Juan was a great place to walk around.  The crew on the ship were very friendly.  The ship was clean, although not updated yet (I was told it would be redone by the time of our cruise.  I booked this eight months in advance.)  We did the all inclusive beverage package, worth the price! We definately got more than we paid.  We did tip the really good bartenders more, even though it was included in the package.

Trans Atlantic on Royal Caribbean by Windsorsmom

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Transatlantic

This was our second trans Atlantic cruise.  The first one was on Princess.  The price was better on this one. The check in was very smooth.  The cabin on Royal Caribbean was larger than Princess. Our cabin steward was great.  The food was fine - a little boring after the first week but the service was good.  I loved the rustic rye bread served in the Windjammer every day at lunch. What was really lacking was entertainment.  The nightly shows on RC were okay. The daytime really dragged.  The only movies they had were second rate flicks which were several years old and could be seen in 5 languages. (I suspect that was the criteria so they could be broadcast on the various language channels.) The television tranmitted through a Polish channel and featured BBC replays.  After the first two days, no news channels were available.  The activities during the day centered around selling either spa treatments or jewelry from the stores. There was only one version of the ice show which was presented 5 or 6 times.  They didn't even have usual starchy fillers like an ice carving presentation or a cooking event. We ordered and paid for milk shakes from the Ben and Jerry counter and it was made with too little ice cream (because the ice cream was too cold) and warm milk resulting in a blah lukewarm beverage. Even the milk shake at Johnny Rocket which was made correctly was served in the smallest tumbler they had - Coke came in larger glasses.   So while this is a good deal, be prepared to keep yourself amused.  Load up the kindle or bring a sweater or two to knit.

Cruise OK but not stellar by vikingcruiser

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

This was a cruise to the Norwegian Fjords. The scenary was beautiful and it was definitely a good destination. On a good note, there was no epidemic of norvirus, the ship was clean and staff pleasant, we had no crisis such as some ships experienced over the last year. There was not, however, enough capacity on the excursions to accommodate everyone on the ship so hundreds of people were in a port with population 200 and nothing to do. Our cabin smelled of stale urine, and we were told 'the ship is packed' and there was nothing they could do. They did shampoo the carpet, after which we traded stale urine odor for overwhelming carpet perfume odor. The staff did not know how to 'think outside the box' to meet customer requests - beer available in one bar could not be obtained for us in a different bar, cocoa available in the cafeteria could not be obtained in a bar, etc. Dining room food was mediocre - a result, I'm sure, of having to serve 1000 meals at one sitting because of rigid dining timing rules. The food tasted like it was prepared in advance and kept on warmers. On a good note, the food in the buffet had the same options as the dining room, ,with more flexibility and seemed fresher. But the buffet area did not have enough table to seat everyone trying to eat there. If this had been our first cruise, we might have been less disappointed. Having had 2 prior cruises on a different line, with fantastic service, food and entertainments, made this cruise less enticing.

The ship line with Royal Caribbean is a 10 + rating. This is my third trip with Royal Caribbean cruise line. I have been on other cruise lines before and this is the best. The total cruises that my wife and I have been on is about 10 total. I am ready to go again. Torry Pinter from NC.

Great Cruise by FLAdventurer

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

Adventure of the Seas Southern Caribbean out of San Juan was wonderful. The ship was the perfect size with plenty of things to do. It was also great that we were in a different port everyday, allowing us to have a different adventure, or stay on board. The staff and activities were great and the food was above average. I would definitely take this cruise again.

Slipping Badly by longtimecruiser

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

I've taken 13 RC cruises over the years, and I've seen things slipping for the past several trips. The food, service, and entertainment are still OK, but the level courtesy and caring just isn't there anymore . I was especially miffed that RC's baggage handlers lost my luggage. (This happened before about two trips ago.) I reported the missing luggage to Guest Services around 5PM and got no updates at all. Finally, my stateroom attendant found it around 11PM. I informed Guest Services that I had everything, but that message seems to have been lost on them because I began receiving calls every day of the cruise asking if I found my luggage. I guess they expected me to go around the ship looking for it. This may seem like a minor gripe, but had the stateroom attendant not found the bags I would have been in bad shape for the rest of the cruise because Guest Services wasn't looking for it. My Time Dining is a sham. When I asked for a table for 7PM, I was told that the only time available was 6:45 for the remainder of the cruise. The people I sat with had the same complaint concerning seating. If you want to eat on your schedule, you'll have to go to the Windjammer. I've gone with RC in the past because I like the Adventure and Navigator ships, but I'm not sure I'll travel with that line again.

Wonderful experience!! by MandL

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

This was a first time cruise for my husband and myself. We could not have asked for or even imagined a more wonderful vacation. We booked late and our only option was an interior room. I was concerned, I really wanted a balcony, but all was fine. The room was larger than we expected with plenty of storage and a bathroom with enough room to not feel cramped. We had a nice vanity & chair with good lighting and electrical plugs. Hair dryer was provided. It was quiet and dark and we slept like babies. Be sure and take an alarm or schedule a wake up call because with no sunlight you can sleep forever. Boarding was a breeze, we walked up, checked in and boarded. No waiting! We loved Martin, our cabin steward, he took such good care of us. We loved the food, from breakfast in the Windjammer enjoying the beautiful view to our buffet lunch to our elegant evening dining in the Mozart. We were totally impressed and came home a few pounds heavier. We attended every show we could and enjoyed all of them. The ice performance was great. We loved and enjoyed the ship from top to bottom and cannot wait for our next cruise. The staff was wonderful!!! All the ports were beautiful and we enjoyed every one of them. We did the kayak and snorkeling excursion on Antigua, it was wonderful! On Barbados we swam with the turtles and snorkeled over the ship wrecks. The Catamaran was amazing!! We most highly recommend The Adventure of the Seas and the Southern Caribbean Cruise.

cruising excellence by beautifulcolt

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

This is a wonderfully staffed and well maintained boat. The entertainment was good and spaced apart properly so that you didnt have to miss anything. Anthony the cruise director did a great job keeping passengers engaged and having a great time. Itinerary was perfect and the suggested excursions were all planned well. We had a blast thank you Royal Caribbean. We will definitely consider you in the future. Even when we had a small room issue you took care of it for us quickly. We expect this is the policy of your cruise line and that reassures us that our next cruise will be just as enjoyable. We'll see you at sea soon.

my state room was very small. doors clashed. bathroom light switch outside bathroom. shower stall very uncomfortable. bathroom reeked of old urine. will never book on this cruise ship again. I traveled with my daughter and son in law. Their sheets had stains when they called housekeeping they were given a hard time about changing the sheets. pathetic, being that you pay so much money

A few disappointments but overall great vacation by Muffin312

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

We had a great time on the ship and for the most part it exceeded our expectations. We read lots of reviews so we were prepared for the long wait to get on the ship. The first day was pretty crowded with dinner and the buffet but after that it wasn't so bad for such a large ship. The only thing that would have made the trip better would have been an extra day at sea. It was nice to be able to visit so many ports but since we really enjoyed the poolside activities on the last day we wish we had one more day like this. We did the My Time Dining and were glad we did. We ended up at the same table with the same waiter almost every night but it was nice to have the option to sit alone or move.
