Great itinerary, good service, older ship by jamiejo

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

Dining and housekeeping staff were exceptional!!  Our cabin was spacious, but the pole in the middle of the room wasn't very well planned.  It was directly between the bed and the TV.  There are plenty of onboard activities, but not many that really interested us.  WiFi should be available at a more reasonable cost and with more websites available for free (e.g. weather, CNN news, etc.)  One of our excursions was cancelled and re-scheduled to a much earlier time, due to no fault of our own, and our our only notification about this was a voicemail on our cabin phone; which we happened to notice only by dumb luck.  Better communication should have been provided.

Great experience. Will have given a 5 but there is no pool or to many activities for a 1.5 years old baby. Babies are not even allowed on any pool aboard.

Great and Relaxing Cruise, Staff was fantastic by ageubanks

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

Our Adventure of the Seas Southern Caribbean Cruise was great.  The ship was a little tired, however, I understand it is getting an overhaul renovation in October 2016.  It was still adequate for what we needed.  The spa was really tired, but the services were great.  The cabin crew, Jove was wonderful.  Our servers in the Mozart Dining room Ronald and Lucia were wonderful.  We did 4 excursions and loved all but one of them.  The Cay Beach Break in St. Croix was mediocre and not worth the price.  The transportation company was the problem. Not the driver but the staff the greeted us when we arrived in Christiansted.  Ms. B was a little out there (space cadet) and could not form complete sentences.  I hope nothing was wrong with her medically, but felt she was a little out of sorts to say the least.  The Land trip to the Volcano in St. Lucia was the highlight.  The company Fosters was a great tour guide and we loved the experience.

A Wonderful First Ever Cruise Experience by sheree4851

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

We just got back fro our first ever Caribbean cruise, and it was so much better than we could have ever imagined.  The ship itself is gorgeous, and our room, which was an outside balcony room, was spacious and extremely comfortable.  Our steward kept our room immaculate!  The servers and chefs on the ship constantly provided an amazing selection on the buffet at the Windjammer Café.  You could not possibly go hungry and the food was tasty and was served by gracious friendly waiters.  Our dinner experience was unbelievable.  Our head waiter, Danny, and his assistant, Zhoran, were always ready with a smile to greet us when we came in each evening.  The food and the service were truly outstanding.  There are plenty of fun activities to partake in, and we enjoyed the various trivia games, charades, being a particular favorite, as well as karaoke.  The evening shows brought each day to a wonderful end.  We also thoroughly enjoyed the shore excursions that were offered to us.  It was a truly magical experience for us, and we would not hesitate to cruise again with Royal Caribbean!!

Lacking in Quality by loryc817

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

Yes the ship is older and the space isn't used to it's potential but the ship was clean and the staff professional.  That being said the ship is going into dry dock in October and it seems like Royal Caribbean is trying to save some money with this ship by not offering other options for dining. Breakfast is available by Room Service, the Windjammer Buffet, one of the Dining Rooms and the Cafe Promenade.  It may seem like a lot of choices but they all offer the same thing.  And breakfast in the Windjammer had the same options every day except for the type of danish offered.  For lunch you can only eat at the Windjammer and the Cafe Promenade (carries sandwiches...not paninis...cookies, desserts and pizza).  The Windjammer had the same items everyday.  Hotdogs, Hamburgers, mashed potatoes, rice, veg, salad, pizza, a chicken choice, beef choice and fish choice which are all made from the leftovers of the previous days menu.  If you wanted fresh food you would need to eat at Johnny Rockets at an additional charge of $6.95 per person.  The dining room for dinner only had a mediocre menu at best and every item on it that I tried was salty as hell.  On the formal nights the main entree offered was sliced filet mignon on one night and 4 oz lobster tail with 4 sauteed shrimp (size was 25/30).  Rolls being offered with dinner were cold all except for one night.  Desserts were nothing to write home about.  I love Creme Brulee and it was offered every night...I had it the first night and that was it.  Very bland. Now I'm sure you're wondering how can I be so critical...well I've been in the Food and Beverage Industry for over 30 years and have been on over 10 cruises on such lines as Carnival, Norwegian and Princess as well as Royal Caribbean many years ago when they offered late night buffets and chocolate buffets with all the different fruit and ice carvings, this by far is the worst cruise in as far as dining that I have ever been on.

The islands that we visited were St Croix (don't even bother getting off the ship), St Thomas always nice, St Lucia nice, Antigua (didn't see much it was pouring) and Grenada nice island, nice people.

The Solarium Pool area was great no kids are allowed to use this pool and area and pleasantly there were none.  The Royal Promenade was nice.  They had a 70's show that was good...but the other entertainers and shows were just mediocre.  The only other show that was good was the ice show.

The staff were professional until you go to give them an extra tip...and if you don't give them enough some made faces.  I think Royal Caribbean needs to work on some of the staffs attitudes towards guests when they hand them extra money.  I could have easily put it on my sail card and they might never have even seen the extra money.  I don't think I will be going back on Royal Caribbean any time soon.  Our next trip is going to be to Alaska

This was our first cruise and we weren't sure what to expect. We loved the whole experience. My favorite was waking up in a different place every day! The food was great as was the entertainment. Our service in the dining room exceeded all expectations.

Adventure of a life time by valentinka

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

It was a very enjoyable cruise. Beautiful destinations and plenty of activities to do. We visited several Caribbean islands, such as Puerto Rico, St. Thomas, St. Croix, St. John, St. Lucia, and Grenada.  St. Lucia is my favorite one. It is beautiful and the people that live there are very friendly. We went on a rain forest hike in St. Croix, went swimming with sting rays in St. John, walked in a volcano and snorkeled in St. Lucia, and visited a spice factory in Grenada.

The customer service on The Adventure of the Seas is exceptional. I didn't give 5 stars because of the shows, although enjoyable, not the best ones I have seen while cruising.

Great time Great staff on a great ship by tbatty

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

On previous cruises we had been on smaller ships.  This was our first with over 3500 passengers.  Everything is bigger and modern and the ships have more facilities and things to do. If one prefers to use the pools and hot tubs and avoid the trivia games etc. that's okay.  The point is there is much to satisfy just about everyone. The ship is the vacation destination and not the various ports of call.  Words can't express how beautiful the ship is and how smoothly the week goes with no problems. We have zero negative comments but one positive of many is to recommend to anyone not to miss the dining experience of the main dining rooms because they don't want to put on  pair of long pants.  It's not just the food but the experience with the waiters that is particularly noteworthy.  We went  with first time cruisers that weren't excited about gett9ing dressed for dinner but once they realized the reason for this experience everyone was looking forward to dinner even when we weren't hungry. The great buffet that was available was history as far as we were concerned. For us, this was a highlight. Great friends on a great ship. A perfect combination.

Ports galore! by SnappyWD

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

This is an port heavy cruise with only one sea day (which was the last day). If you want to visit 6 different ports in one trip this is the one for you.

Had a great time and had a very pleasant surprise in our time at Grenada.

Fun Trip on Royal's Adventure of the Seas by lisas61

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

Just returned from a trip on Adventure of the Seas.  We chose this cruise for the ports of call not for the ship.  The ship is showing a bit of age.  She is still lovely and very clean, but you can see that she can use some upgrading which I understand is scheduled for later this year.  We enjoyed each port and did an excursion in each.  One day of rain but that is no one's fault.  The only disappointment is you can see the food quality has changed from years past.  Not horrible, but not great.  Also the best staff is being moved to the big new ships, which was told to us by some of the staff.  Some of the staff seems unhappy and some is being trained and just not quite ready to be on their own.  Not enough to spoil the trip, but in comparison to trips on Royal in the past, you could see the difference.  The Activities Staff was great, loved Dan Dan the Cruise Ship Entertainment Director, and the shows were good!

Ho-hum by jmoon

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

I have never sat down and wrote a review but I have been in the hospitality business for over 15 years (server to general mgr) and I wanted to bring a couple of concerns to someone's attention.  The overall experience for excursions and ports of call were good.  The staff on the ship seemed to have a disconnect from the passengers from my own personal experience and from what I witnessed.  Most of all the bartenders (ship wide) and servers in the main dining had absolutely no expression of happiness.   Almost like the guest were a burdened.  Another concern was the night life.   It was pretty much nonexistent unless we wanted to be in the casino for 6 hours.  Beside karaoke and generic guitar player/singer there was nothing to do until midnight when the DJ decided to start at the dance club, which is hard to do waking up at 6:30 for the next excursion/port of call.   I went on Carnival last year and they seemed to set the bar at a higher level.  I expected more of an elegant adventure with Royal Caribbean knowing their reputation and sales pitch.

Amazing Islands but buyer beware by secondfifty

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

Every cruise has highlights and not-so-great moments.  On board, the Murder Mystery Dinner was lots of fun and I had one of the best fillet mignon I've ever had.  The cafeteria still dining worked well for us for breakfast and lunch.  The Dining room cuisine was hit or miss - too much salt, not enough spices. Room staff and wait staff wre al very nice.

Enjoyed the movies under the stars, mini-golf,and rock climbing wall, ice show.

We went on several excursions - the Spices and Sunshine tour on Grenada was marvelous- best transport and driver, expert guides througha spice and herbal botanical garden and lovely stop at Radisson beachfront.

Snorkeling at Buck Isand was very nice- good boat and crew, well informed guides, lots of sea turtles.  On St Lucia, the venue- PItons was awesome but the snorkel gear was sketchy and no guides while in the water.  On Antigua, we had a very disppointing RC beach excursion - paid way too much for a ride to a mediocre location where we had to pay for everything a a carte - chairs, umbrella, drinks. No food avaiable.  The description in the xcursion guide was very misleading and RC was very reluctant to refund us.

Make sure you take time to enjoy Puerto Rico! there's much to offer in the way of great food, beautiful architecture, history and nature, beautiful beaches and more.

Vacation of a lifetime by Cruiser226

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

We loved our cruise to the Southern Carribean. Food was wonderful and the staff was excellent. They gave us everything and anything we wanted with a huge smile!! The only thing I would change is booking my excursions. I will do it through Royal Carribean instead of Shore Excursions as Royal Carribean offered more excursions. The best vacation I have ever had, well worth it!!!! We loved it

Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

Everything was great...

The food, service and activities were all FABULOUS!!!

The staff was extremely friendly. Always greeted you with a warm smile and made sure you were well taken care.

The entertainment was good, not Broadway caliber, but I had no complaints.

Overall, the boat was beautiful, don't believe all the negative reviews you read.

Great ship, service, food, staff, ports, beaches, and weather!

Would go again this time of year. The the elevators a little slow but ok. Our anytime dining staff was excellent. Drinks were good and contests were very funny and entertaining. No issues with boarding and leaving ship. Ice is only available in bars and eating areas but was served when asked. "........................."....................

Disappointed by snippybear2000

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

The ship is very nice. It was very clean. The food was okay nothing exceptional.

The entertainment on the ship was sparse. Only two shows and two ice shows. The rock climbing wall was closed most of the time. All the Islands were beautiful and all in all we had a great time.

Great Staff, Clean Ship, Great Time by markjeff

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

This was my first time cruising with Royal Carribean. I have previously cruised with Norwegian and Carnival. My first impressions was that the ship was massive in size and had more activities to do above deck then on previous ships I had been on. From the ice skating rink to the rock climbing wall to the basketball courts to roller skating rink to rock climbing wall to Johnny Rockets - there was so much to do. Furthermore, the activities on board seems enough to keep adults and teenagers busy. From basketball and volleyball tournaments to belly flop contests and Worlds Sexiest Man competitions - there was never a dull moment or even a moment where less than 5 things were going on at once. The only downfall at times could be not being able to be in two places at once on the ship. The staff aboard this vessel makes the experience that much better. Caring, helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable are want you look for and RC and their staff doesn't let you down.
