Disappointed by jharlan

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

I was disappointed at the quality of entertainment on the Cruise as well as the customer service.  Since the Line charges your tips to your sea pass, there seems to be no incentive for the staff to provide better service.

Retired and Loving It by kinsey05

overall the cruise was great.  Wasn't happy with the stateroom being so far back.  I have trouble walking since foot surgery and I had trouble walking the corridor.

Fantastic! by ebbtidecharters

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

We enjoyed the heavy, port itenerary. Staff was always friendly, helpful and welcoming. Dining experience at Chefs Table and Giovanni's was a little disappointing but did not spoil our trip.

1st time royal cruiser by Lucas15

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

I've been on 7 cruises and this is my first time on Royal Caribbean. The,food quality Iwas better but not the night entertainment. I like the comedians better on Carnival. The singers and dancers were comparable between all the cruise ships from Costa to Holland America to Carnival and this. Thesee were some of the nicest ports from the beach to shopping and snorkeling. The coffee was excellent and bold. If you are debating on getting the coffee package don't.  Service varied and the drinks didn't always come out tasting correct.

Wonderful Place to visit! by vegasbyron

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

If you haven't been to the southern Caribbean you have to go. The eastern and western Caribbean are very nice, but don't hold a candle to the south. Staff on the Adventures of the Seas was awesome, although I have to say that the food and entertainment were a little below expectation. You can't beat the ports of St. Thomas, St. Kitts, Curacao and Aruba! Also San Juan is a fun interesting place as well. You should know that unlike some other cruise lines Royal Caribbean is very strict on their no shorts policy in the main dining room, but no big deal. I would highly recommend taking this cruise and can't wait to go back for the 5 port cruise on Royal!!

Adventure of the Seas Southern Caribbean Trip by elestina

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

I loved all of the trip, the destinations, cruise ship food, room, entertainment, etc.

There was always something to do on board the ship.  I loved the ice show and attended twice. All of the production shows were excellent.  I was not as excited about the hypnotist.  It was ok, about like that variety of show was years ago but more time now.  The fine dining was excellent and the servers assigned to us were top notch.  The room was kept very neat and clean by our steward who knew our names and was very cooperative and friendly.  Leaving and boarding the ship at any stop was never a problem and managing the paperwork before boarding the ship was painless with a fast moving line.  We did have a problem with our sea cards.  Getting on thAe ship for the 1st time the cards would not work, we were told due to a barcode issue.  A Royal Caribbean employee went to the 5th floor to make new cards. Then the 1st time we tried to deboard at St.Thomas we again had an issue with the cards.  This time we went to the 5th floor.  After that our cards worked flawlessly.  There was one other issue.  There were 7 of us who wanted to dine together so we visited the Sapphire area at floor 5 who put us together letting us know we would receive a note the next day about where and when to report to our assigned table.  The next day no note was received by any of the 7.  I checked with Sapphire again and was told all of us have a table on floor 3 at early dining.  Yes we enjoyed the time, great food, excellent service, and spending time together in the Sapphire.

We reported to Trivia and always enjoyed it, Beatles, Neil Diamond, Elvis, time on the beautiful promenade, just watching the water.  We should have checked out the miniature golf but never got there.

Thank you for the wonderful trip. I can go on and on!!

One of my BEST vacations by divva1

Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

This cruise was amazing.  I enjoyed the service from the crew members, the islands that we visited, the room (oceanview), the price, and some of the deals on the boat.  I can't wait to book my next cruise.

Nice people bad ship. by ddsmd1964

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

My wife and I have cruised many times and only once before with Royal Caribbean. We stayed in a Junior suite and found it quite comfortable. The decor is tired but not offensive. The major issue is the food and entertainment aboard ship. No matter how much you try and upgrade you cannot get away from the pervasive mediocrity of everything.  We purchased a dinning package for three nights and the Chef's table. The Chef's Table was very nice. The food was good and the service was excellent. The dinning package was worthless. In fact we didn't use the last day. The beef at the upscale Giovoni's was really bad. The servers were a bit aggressive about being complimented which isn't as big issue but it was a little weird. We always tipped well and realize that the servers are international and customs are different all over the world.

The big issue is that the ship is nothing more than an all you can eat and drink at a fixed cost facility. It is packed with people that want to strap the feedbag on and are always in a hurry to get to the unlimited processed grub.

The pool band knows four or five songs and not well. They play extremely extended versions of everything and are usually slightly off key. The shows are not quite to the level of a good high school talent show.

The bar staff is very very nice as are almost all the people working. I cannot say enough about how hard they work to make your trip enjoyable. That being said, if you are looking for mediocrity in everything and plenty of it, this cruise is for you.

Had an amazing time! by cwinans

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

What fun we had on this cruise!  The service, food, drinks and entertainment were great.  We went with 4 other couples, all friends and family.  If you wait until you get on the boat it is much more expensive.  We bought a snorkeling and bbq lunch excursion on Aruba that was definitely worth the money.  Other than that, we just "beached" and shopped.  Be sure to bring a couple of dressy outfits for the formal nights (jackets and ties for men-dresses for ladies).  We will definitely do this again!

Great Cruise by ccfinch

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

Had a great time a wonderful cruise.  The only thing I wish I would have known on Deck 6 the balcony had only 1/2 view metal 1/2 down, but on all the other decks it was full view.  We also travel with friends and love to open the balcony up to enjoy sunset but these were bolted and no chance of opening.  But other than that it was a great ship and staff were just great.

This was an unexpected and unbelievable experience. Food was great and the service on the ship was 1st Class; VJ and his team in the main dining room made our group of 25 feel special. This was truly a Royal experience.  Our stateroom attendant kept everything fresh and relaxing.  We had a great vacation the #riyalway

Royal Caribbean Is Dying by PhotogCruiser

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

I started cruising many years ago, and cruised on several different lines. At that time, many were pretty good, then it happened, they started a price war or something and everything started falling apart. The first two lines that went to hell were Carnival and Norwegian. After sampling several lines, I chose RCCL as my GOTO cruise line, where I was happy for several years, and highly recommended them to my friends, etc. RCCL was a nice balance of money and quality. But, the price war and quality drop has now ended that relationship. This last cruise, on the Adventure of the Seas, was soooo sad. This ship and the amenities had just gone to hell. The ship is deteriorating, the food is crap, the service is almost gone, the entertainment is almost gone. In days past, every night was a great night in the big theater. Now, there is just crap entertainment, or NO ENTERTAINMENT!!! The whole ship and the services are starting to remind me of stories of old slave ships of the past!! Just cheap passage for captive people, not an adventure that fulfilled dreams and created great memories. I was super disappointed, and I am already telling friends and other travel people to avoid RCCL in the future. RCCL is now a thing of the past. At age 65, I hope I have several good years of cruising ahead of me, but I will search out upscale cruise lines that deliver the quality of cruise that I enjoyed in the past. Hopefully there are still cruise lines that deliver on the dream of a beautiful cruise experience!!! For me, RCCL is a dead duck....

Adventure by psrswalk

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

We made it a fun time travelling with 18 people, but the ship still needs some updating and the food was just ok.  Drinks were expensive.  The specialty restaurant was ok, had a voucher that's why we went.  Would not spend the extra money for the quality of food, but the service was excellent in there.

My family's experience on the Adventure of the Seas by grifoblack

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

Given the price for all that was offered in terms of amenities, food, antertainment and islands, this cruise was was an excellent adventure (pardon the pun). That said, the experience was made that much more special by the ship's outstanding personnel.

Regardless of the hour,  the service provided by the ship's employees was exceptional. They made our experience wonderful with their friendliness, graciousness and attention to every detail. This was especially relevant in the dining room. I  particularly want to commend Amy, Krishna and Amar in the main dining room. After our first dinner there, they would have our drinks and preferred bread ready to serve to each of us, by the time we got to our table! How they managed to accomplish this with so many dinner guests I have no idea. They also made special arrangements and accommodations for my 7 year old grandson who has special needs and is a very picky eater.  Amy, Krishna and Amar are not merely well, trained; they have a sense of joy and accomplishment at doing their work to perfection, and to a level of excellence.

Pluses and Minuses of the 7 day Caribbean Cruise by timsuel

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

One of my favorite parts of the cruise was the diversity of the passengers.

Since I'm a huge sports fan I enjoyed having a TV in my stateroom to watch any of the post season college football games of my choice without any distractions.

I also enjoyed visiting five different ports.

I enjoyed the size of the ship, it felt like a "hotel on water".

The ship staff were great, especially my stateroom attendant.

The Promenade Café was a hit with my wife and I.  We loved having the ability to have a snack pretty much any time of the day or night.

We also liked having soft serve ice cream anytime throughout the day or evening.

Several things need improvement.  The Windjammer restaurant needs to have a major overhaul of their menu.  There were "TOO" many days with the same food offerings. That was very disappointing.

The evening entertainment was very disappointing as well.  There needs to be more entertainment geared toward adults, more shows; comedy; musicals; etc.

It would be nice to have more shops to explore on board.

Since this was a "New Years" cruise, do not have the cruise celebration (almost immediately when passengers board the ship).  Plan better.

When we disembarked from the ship the luggage area was very confusing because not everything was marked to find our luggage.

Also, the taxi service was a disaster and very confusing once the cruise ended.  Please be more organized.  There was very little signage for taxi service. Have one designated area for taxi's that are taking passengers to hotels and another for those going to the airport.

New Years Eve Cuise on Royal Caribbean by horsewsperer

This ship is fabulous, great customer service, amazing food and the ports were all wonderful. I really liked the fact that there was only one day at sea, this allowed us to get out and experience a new place everyday.
