Ship: Adventure of the Seas

Cabin type: Balcony

Cabin number: 1390

Review summary

The adventure of the seas is an older ship and it shows. If you hadn't told me it had just gone through a retrofit to modernize it I wouldn't have noticed (We hadn't been this ship before). Customer service on RC was MUCH better than our Norwegian cruise experience, but not up to Disney.

Embarkation

Lines were long and hot. Not well organized.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Main dining room service was fantastic.. Menu was uninspired and not varied. Buffet food was uniformly mediocre (better than Carnival, worse than Disney or Norwegian). The specialty restaurants were pretty good, although not as spectacular is Disney's Palo. Get the BOGO 2 night dinner package. And make reservations as soon as you get on board. Was a nice way to ease into the cruise.

Onboard Activities

Entertainment

We didn't partake in much of the entertainment. (it didn't seem interesting).

Service and Staff

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
For a ship that just finished a retrofit, there were signs of wear and aging.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Best cabin we have ever had. Wake view is clearly the best view.

Ship tip

The ship never seemed crowded. Lines for MOST things (including elevators) weren't bad.

Ports of call

San Juan, Puerto Rico

5 out of 5
We love Old San Juan and Puerto Rico.

Kralendijk, Bonaire

5 out of 5
Glass kayak and snorkel excursion. Kayaking was more strenuous than we'd prefer and the snorkeling wasn't great. if you are looking for good Kayaking, or good snorkeling, choose something different.

Willemstad, Curacao

5 out of 5
Interesting city.

Oranjestad, Aruba

5 out of 5
It's Aruba! Faster pace than the previous two islands. Gorgeous beaches.

Philipsburg, St. Maarten

5 out of 5
Our favorite island of the 4 we visited. Pinel island was amazing.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Who wants to end vacation? Long lines. Overall easier than most Disembarkation.
