Not so Memorable Cruise by RolandA1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)

Cruising on RCCL has really changed (for the worse) over the past few years. They now want to charge you for everything they can. If you want the better quality steak in the dinning room than it is an upcharge of $15. There use to be items such as midnight buffets that made cruises memorable and enjoyable - no more, no mint on your pillow at night - basically nickle and diming you, just like the airlines. This cruise experience was not like a 5 star resort but a Motel 6 stay. Sorry RCCL but it may be a long time before you see this family again.

WORST CRUISE I HAVE EVER BEEN ON by ElisaR

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Paradise / Destination: U.S. - Pacific, Northwest

On top of the unwanted detour, it smelled like mildew from the pool that fell in from the roof the week prior. although it is not in their control, the weather was horrible. everyone was wearing jeans and sweaters and the big robe they have available in the room as well as the towel being used as a blanket. I hate the morning that we have to leave because they want you up and out of there by 8:30 AM. They need to extend that to at least 10:00AM. The staff was nice and helpful. They need some upgrades on the carpet and maybe some updated interior decoration (its been like that forever). Oh, and there was fight and the girl kept swinging on people inlcuding the security guards. They never restrained her and so she kept attacking people. They need way better security procedures. At one point people were just yelling out "cuff her or pepperspray her." She was out of control and nobody knew how to handle it.

3 day Catalina/Baja by ShannonM7

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Paradise / Destination: U.S. - Pacific, Northwest

The ship itself was very nice. If you don't mind laundry piled in the cabin hallways, and dirty dishes left outsde the rooms for hours, then you'll be okay with this cruise. If loud, drunk, profane and oblivious youngsters that apparently just came of age to drink legally don't bother you, then you'll LOVE this cruise. You can expect that the young men will be quite aggressive toward women. Apparently, the guys think they're entitled to sex along with the free food. Be aware of your surrounds, and you'll be okay.

Good weekend getaway by JonathanL1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: U.S. - Pacific, Northwest

Overall we had a good time. The ship itself is pretty nice, the staff was friendly and the food was good. The entertainment was wonderfully cheesy. The highlights were the adult comedian shows and the adult hypnotist show.

It was OK. by KristyS1

Setting up a cash account for on board purchases is time consuming. Next time, we will definately use a credit card. Also, do not pick a room directly under the galley. They start doing dinner dishes and prepping for breakfast at about 11:45 pm and do not stop until about 3:00 am.

Not so Fun cruise by KathyH13

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Paradise / Destination: U.S. - Pacific, Northwest

I was quite happy with the size of the rooms and the overall night life, bars, and spa gym area, even the pool. I was very unhappy with the casual attitude regarding the flood in the dining room. Had the flood broke through a few feet away the chance of somebody getting injured would have been guaranteed. The captain gave an announcement apoligizing for the inconvienence in the dining room. Had the passengers not been so calm and exited in such an orderly manner, people could have slipped, broke bones, hit their heads, had lacerations. Amazing that there were not injuries, only due to the passengers because the staff in the dining room were in shock as well as the passengers. I believe we should all have received a voucher for a future cruise

Do not cruise Carnival by TomD1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Paradise / Destination: U.S. - Pacific, Northwest

The Carnival Cruise that I recently embarked on was not a very pleasant experience. The Ship (Paradise) seemed as if it was in very poor condition and a pipe flooded many state rooms and a main dining room, also causing the main outdoor pool to drain for most of the cruise. Additionally, My room was flooded the first day, which ruined my camera and other personal effects. After 2 complaints on the first and second day, they came to my room on the final night to downgrade my room. I was told I would be reimbursed and found that they ended up giving me a $16 credit. Last but not least, the mold smell in the room got many onboard sick and when we went to the infirmary to get taken care of, they told us the insurance that we purchased wasn't valid. I will never cruise with carnival again no matter how cheap the price is. Cruises are usually used for vacation and its not worth the stress of the poor management of Carnival while your trying to get away.

Deceiving deal to get a sale by MichaelR3

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends

The food was probably the worst part about the cruise. It was like eating cafeteria food all the time and the dinner portions were very small but you could order as many as you wanted. The staff was friendly and helpful. The Rex nightclub had the world's worst DJ.

Best Time Ever by GagikC

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Splendor / Destination: U.S. - Pacific, Northwest

This trip was for my 50th birthday and i have had the best time ever. Me, my wife, and many of my friends with their families all had a brilliant time. I would highly recommend this cruise line to everyone as the experience is great. All the rooms are clean and neat, and the staff is very friendly. The lobster dinner, the desert definitely made a difference. This was the greatest experience ever. I will definitely be going back next year ;)

Not bad for a first cruise by BradP1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Splendor / Destination: U.S. - Pacific, Northwest

This was my first cruise and I would say that overall it was a pleasant experience. Although I don't have much to compare it to, I would at least be able to say that I really enjoyed myself and it was well worth it

Fabulous Girls Trip by SusanS18

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: U.S. - Pacific, Northwest

We were really impressed with the oveall size of our room on the Carnival Elation. We did an inside cabin and it had plenty of space...storage, closets, and drawers. The beds and pillows were extreemly comfortable. We slept well every night. We also loved the dining rooms. They were easy to find, large, and extremely efficiant.

my favorite one by Regina

Sail date: /
Ship: Mariner of the Seas / Destination: U.S. - Pacific, Northwest

We found out about the cruise on the Royal Caribbean Mariner of the Seas about two weeks before boarding. I can honestly say that this was my least expensive cruise ,and my favorite one. We left on Sunday, May 24th from Los Angeles, went to San Francisco, Vancover, B.C. and Seattle, Washington and were at sea for two days. All of the ports were fun, and since we have been to these places several times, we arranged our own activities. Usually we take a cruise sponsored tour, but it was easy to walk right off at all of the ports and do our own thing. There was never a dull moment for us on the Royal Caribbean, which is an amazing ship w/many attractions for everybody young and old. On the days that we were at sea, I got up early had breakfast at the Windjammer buffet and then walked around the track to wear off all of the delicious food that we could not stay away from. Also, I went to the gym and used the steam room and would meet my husband afterwards. He enjoyed many presentations and shows such as "The Newlywed and Not So Newlywed Game". We usually had lunch in the dining room where we had the chance to meet interesting people daily. We also hung out at Seattle's Best Coffee Shop on the Promanade Deck. There was not enough time to do everything we would have liked to do such as golf, rock climbing, etc.The staff was wonderful especially those in the dining room. The food was also wonderful and we are probably losing weight now as we have to deal w/my cooking. We loved the shows especially the Ice Skating Show. The only suggestion I have for the Royal Caribbean is to have laundry facilities so that guests can do their own laundry. Everything else was "over the top" I have told all of my friends about this "last minute" cruise that was diverted from Mexico to the Northwest.

Fun Memorial Day Weekend Cruise by KenS9

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Paradise / Destination: U.S. - Pacific, Northwest

We had a fun time on this cruise, which was our first one on a Carnival ship. The service was very attentive, and the food in the dining room very good. Lots of activities going on at any given time. The show Saturday night with a Hollywood theme exceeded our expectations. We didn't mind at all the stop in Catalina rather than Ensenada. Especially since I hadn't been to Catalina in many years. Overall, nice, and we would definitely go on a Carnival cruise again. The next one will likely be to Alaska.

The decor was not very modern, but was pleasing and clean. Nothing seemed new, but nothing looked like it needed repair.

First Cruise ! Why did we wait so long? by DanR

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: U.S. - Pacific, Northwest

We had the absolute BEST staff possible.. From our room steward, who took very good care of us, to our waiters--very funny, helpful and nice. To the Cruise Director, Stuart, who does his job with energy and humor. Definitely kept us laughing! Even on the last day when he jokingly announced that we had arrived in "Honolulu" when it was actually San Diego. The ship was in good shape and we felt pampered. This was to celebrate our 25th Anniversary, and we wish we hadn't waited so long for our first cruise. We wanted to book another one right after we got off the ship!
