Food and service by fredsudz

We had a very bad experience the last night of the cruise in the Santa Fe dining room. We has a reservation for 14 people and we were put at 2 tables for 8 and 6, which would have been acceptable. However, the tables were nowhere near each other. We were separated by 3 tables so we were not close. When we questioned the arrangements, the head waiter told us there was nothing they could do. We should have been informed when the reservation was made that they could not seat us even close to each other. When our food arrived, it was only warm and not prepared as requested. We had wonderful service from the head waiter in the Pacific Moon dining room. HIs name is Karoly Kovacs. He was exceptionally efficient. However, the food was not hot when served there either. I was very disappointed in the food portion of the cruise. Several times we had to return the food to the kitchen to either be properly prepared or heated at both restaurants. I have cuised with Princess previously and was very pleased with the entire experience, but since you are now affiliated with Carnival Cruise Lines, everything has deteriorated. Our cabin steward is exceptional. We were in E312 and our steward was Franco. He was also very efficient, professional but friendly and did everything within his power to make our cruise enjoyable. I doubt that I will cruise with Princess again. There are many lines out there that are considerably better. You need to go back to being Princess instead of Carnival-Princess.

Service disappointing by clmincalifornia

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Sapphire Princess / Destination: U.S. - Pacific, Northwest

The ship itself was quite nice having been recently refurbished. Nice room and bath with a large balcony. However, we were very disappointed (as were the friends we traveled with) in the service provided, particularly in the dining rooms. The staff seemed indifferent and tired. The service was definitely not up to the standards seen on other ships. It has been some years since we cruised, and perhaps the fairly new "automatic tipping" program has something to do with it. Everyone gets tipped no matter what kind of service they give. The shows (Princess dancers and singers) were pretty boring and amateurish. They had some comedians that were pretty funny, however. We have sailed on the Sun Princess years ago to the Panama Canal and remember it to be a very good experience. Perhaps service levels have dropped on all ships, I don't know. With all the other cruise lines out there (particularly Windstar and Royal Caribbean), I don't think we will sail with Princess any time soon.

Sapphire Princess Pacific Coastal Cruise by AlifromOC

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Sapphire Princess / Destination: U.S. - Pacific, Northwest

While the Sapphire Princess is a beautiful ship it proved to be difficult to navigate from Upper decks to specialty dining rooms. The mini suite was very comfortable and spoiled us for any future cruises but the bathtub was a bit awkward to get into and a nice larger shower would have been better choice. The dinning experience was good but not the level of Celebrity which we usually cruise. All of the ports were great and all had something for everyone, but Catalina was a lot of fun as we rented a golf cart to tour the island on our own. We'd recommend this cruise to friends and family.

Enjoyable but should have been better. by JeffH12

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple

Enjoyable cuiise but will go on a different cruise line next time. Carnival gets the basics right and provides a good trip, but fumbles on the nicer touches and really dropped the ball on two issues regarding ship facilities.

Great service, great food, great friends by DoloresL

Sail date: / Traveled as:
Ship: Coral Princess / Destination: U.S. - Pacific, Northwest

I did have a great trip but stopped at LA if I would have known I was going to meet a great new friend and other acquaintances...I would have planned to go to Fort Lauderdale, but I did that cruise in 2011. On other cruises I have been to they offer a very reduced rate for staying on the ship... I was expecting that...but I think they may have been fully booked. This is my second time cruising with Princess. To receive credit for cruising with the Princess line, do I always need to book through you? I have never received anything.

A wonderful cruise on a wonderful ship. by JulieM18

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Celebrity Millennium / Destination: U.S. - Pacific, Northwest

The ship was clean and the staff was attentive. The atmosphere was very comfortable and casual. The spa treatment staff were exceptional and I felt that I got a lot of value for my money. I spent a lot of time in my room because I needed the rest, and I appreciated the quiet. I rarely heard anyone, unless they were right outside my room. My room steward was very attentive.

Pacific Coast 2 Day by RonA1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Golden Princess / Destination: U.S. - Pacific, Northwest

Ship was fine, if you are use to being on board with nearly 3000 people. Never felt crowded, but the disembarking was long and having to vacate our stateroom by 9 am was a hassle. Some wear and tear was evident on the ship in some of the public spaces. Nice outdoor/on deck facilities; movies under the stars is fun; fitness center nice, clean and large.

Girls' trip for 3 by MelanieS1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Celebrity Century / Destination: U.S. - Pacific, Northwest

Overall I had a great cruise. The ports were fun to walk around, but were a little difficult to find information on. None of the itinerary information included anything about ways to get around. Going under the Golden Gate bridge was a moment of a lifetime. The only negative experience we had was at the 12th deck dance club which was listed as being open late with no specified closing. We walked in at around 11:30. The club is only available to people 18 and older after 11, which we all are. When we walked in there were only two gentlemen off to the side having a drink in the bar. The dance floor was empty and recent dance music was playing, so we hit the dance floor uninhibited. We were having fun and dancing as though no one was there, so we looked a bit ridiculous, but we never did any moves which would be seen as offensive or even sexually suggestive. We sang along with a few songs, but the music was so loud we were barely audible. After a little while, the men left and we were alone in the bar. A few of the waiters were amused at the way we were dancing and one even danced along a little. After around 20 minutes, a group of ladies came in for a drink. They weren't really there to dance, but a few of them did join us for a little while. When they did, we mellowed out our moves, as before we were taking the whole dance floor up, so that we could all share the floor. After a little while a man in the suit came over the speakers reminding everyone that the bar was closed to people under 18 after 11. We sort of suspected he thought we were under age, but since we were not we continued on as we were. A few minutes later a security man came in, pulled us off the dance floor and asked us to show him our cards. He got on a cell phone, asked us all our names and room number. I'm over 21, so I had an adult card that's not even the same colour as a junior card, but he still checked it the same way. We were never simply asked our ages and didn't feel like we were being treated as guests who had paid a lot of money to be there at that point. After he was satisfied with the "investigation" he went and spoke with the man in the suit. We went back to dancing for a little while, but at that point our moods had been brought down dramatically and we felt very unwelcome in the bar, so we left. The ladies saw all of this and one even asked us what was going on, indicating to us that they were not bothered by our presence in the slightest. Based on our experience we went down and spoke with Guest Relations after leaving the bar. The man there was very sweet and apologetic, spoke with the manager of all the bars on board and requested we go back up to the bar and speak with him. We went back upstairs and spoke with him. We said our story again and he didn't seem to understand our plight. He kept saying who asked us to leave and we clarified that no one did, but we felt unwelcome after how we were treated based on our appearance and dancing. He never apologized and when I mentioned none of us were even drinking he fixated on the fact that we couldn't all drink because some weren't 21. We were offered absolutely nothing to make the experience come put more positively and were never even given a proper apology by those involved. We left the bar immediately as we still didn't feel like dancing and didn't return. It soured the rest of the trip.

I liked it. The best part of the trip was dinner in the International first seating...table 61 with Alex and Fernando as our servers...They made the night always end with fun. Always offered other things if we did not care for our choice of food. Great guys.

Sapphire Princess - California Coastal by KevinT1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Sapphire Princess / Destination: U.S. - Pacific, Northwest

Great cabins. The recent refit of Sapphire really makes it shine. This ship is a great choice for west coast cruises. Likes: food quality is fairly good. Great stewards and deck staff. Cabins are nice. Really liked the speciality restaurants, cafe and coffee bar, pools, deck chair options. Dislikes: spa staff; passenger demographic; art and boutique sales; performers.

Carnaval Splendor by RodrigoT

The food was good, staff was great, excursions were great and internet service was horrible and over price. We were also told by Cuises Only staff not to tip anyone as it was included in the price, but it wasn't.

Amazing to experience the Panama Canal by Thomass1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Inspiration / Destination: U.S. - Pacific, Northwest

This cruise had multiple difficulty disembarking guests in a timely manner. I am comparing to Norweigian, this is my first Carnival cruise. At one stop we heard constant referrals to the "...unpredictable tides" making it difficult to line-up the stairway with the dock; it was so steep that only a very few able bodied were able to go ashore. As a long-term boater I have yet to have heard of 'unpredictable tide levels'. They are all listed on tables and there were no remarkable tide level lines on the shore. This was just not attended to on the details of the trip and I imagine will be better addressed in the future. When the cruise was over with we went to the dock in front of the Spruce Goose Dome/Queen Mary in Long Beach. I have never been there and soon realized there was one passageway only for 1500 cruisers and a portion of 900 crew departing. The ever faithful Stephanie was on the overhead announcement assuring that the groups would be allowed off and how it would work. Then the overhead announcements were over. She started announcing locally on the Lido Deck and we could no longer hear her. We were desperate to hear our Stephanie who saw us through consistently before. THREE hours went by and I still had no idea who was going or when to go to the 7th floor. We COULD here the loud bell noise of passenger cards being processed. I went down to the 7th floor and it was crammed full of passengers and luggage. You could not even step off of the elevator. I heard staff say on their little radio "... where could I put them?" I asked for help down there and a staff said since I was a carry off (luggage) and could not hear announcements I could go. Pure luck. Most others were still stuck upstairs. It's not their fault there is only one exit at that dock. It is horrible that announcements were not consistently given and lunchtime is approaching while our rooms are being made up for the next cruisers! Stephanie's assistant usually in blue talks down to cruisers and has rough edges when stressed. Stephanie is the hardest working person in the Carnival Lines.
