Review summary

Great cabins. The recent refit of Sapphire really makes it shine. This ship is a great choice for west coast cruises. Likes: food quality is fairly good. Great stewards and deck staff. Cabins are nice. Really liked the speciality restaurants, cafe and coffee bar, pools, deck chair options. Dislikes: spa staff; passenger demographic; art and boutique sales; performers.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Don't miss Alfredo's pizza, Sterling Steakhouse, Sabatini's, International Cafe. Main dining rooms are so so and the Horizon's buffet is weak.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Shows were all missable. Indigo is a solid cruise ship band. Other acts were fine. Nothing special in terms of activities.

Children's Programs

3 out of 5
My 15-year old really enjoyed hanging out in the teen center until 1 a.m. each night.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Excellent stewards and waiters on deck. Waiters in the anytime dining rooms were hit and miss. Princess needs to work a lot on making that dining system work better so that staff aren't overwhelmed.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Terrific layout. The whole ship is in great shape.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Mini-suites are a great option.

Pros: Beautiful ship, fun itinerary

Cons: Ensenada is a terrible port; lots of seniors on this cruise
