Pearl Harbor and Honolulu City Tour by Menhinick

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Pride of America / Destination: Hawaii

"Pearl Harbor and Honolulu City Tour" (Aloha bus and luggage storage). We did not get the tour described in your vacation planner conformation document. We were directed to check in our luggage at the pier, We gave the Aloha Rep. our yellow stub and expected a normal tour with a professional guide at the mic. We described the tour itinery and were told this is the correct bus. We were put on the upper deck of an Aloha sightseeing bus with two other couples who got off at varrious shopping areas along to route. The bus employee took the large portion of our yellow Shore Excursion Tickets( the portion we normally keep and put in our photo album) and were told this was our ticket to ride. We had to change busses for one that went to Pearl Harbor. We were told to be back at the same bus stop location at 12 noon in order to take the last bus back to Pier 2 where our luggage was checked. We claimed our luggage and got lucky because there was a Speedy Shuttle ready to leave for the airport. Off the books I guess since it only cost twenty dollars. Our Delta flight was at 5:30 PM so we had to wait over three hours . We did not see the Iolani Palace nor Punch Bowl and we had to get to Pearl Harbor, return to Pier 2 to claim our luggage and get to the airport on our own. I suspect we were misdirected by Aloha personnel at the outset and told to put our luggage in check when in reality there was probably a bus dedicated to the tour you describe that would keep our luggage on the bus until we arrived at the airport. Best case, we were given incorrect directions by the pier representatives or worst case, that was a really a bad tour.

Hawaii Cruise by Hawaiianvacatio

We were disappointed in the service and quality of food. All 6 in our group felt the same way. Good chance that we will not take another Norwegian Cruise.

Our 1st Trip to Hawaii!! by mojogeri

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Pride of America / Destination: Hawaii

Our experience was a good one. The ship did have alot of movement while cruising. Victor our gentleman that took care of our room was on the top of everything.. While dinning in the Liberty dinning room we had an exceptional waitress, Connie and exceptional waiter, Sam. They made dinner very interesting. Thanks to them we enjoyed our meals. Someday would like to go again.

14 DAY SAN PEDRO TO HAWAII CRUISE by SILVASRCRUISN

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Sapphire Princess / Destination: Hawaii

THIS WAS THE LONGEST AND 1ST NEW YEARS PRINCESS CRUISE I HAVE EVER TAKEN. THE NEW YEARS PARTY WAS 'OFF THE HOOK', THE SERVICE WAS BEYOND EXCELLENT. THE STAFF MAKES YOU FEEL LIKE YOU ARE THE ONLY PERSON ON THE ENTIRE SHIP. THE FOOD WAS GREAT, THE CABIN CLEAN AND THE PEOPLE FRIENDLY. THE ONLY DRAW BACK WAS THAT WE WERE ONLY IN HAWAII FOR FOUR DAYS AND THE TIME ON EACH ISLAND LESS THAN 10 HOURS WHICH MAKE FOR A VERY RUSHED DAY. 10 DAYS AT SEA IS AWESOME IF YOU LOVE TO GAMBLE, DRINK, SWIM AND MOST IMPORTANTLY...EAT.

Pride of America wanted to charge infant 8 months old full price by magnum65560418

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Pride of America / Destination: Hawaii

First infant was free, then they said half price, then infant was full price. Someone is making a big commision

The food on our last trip was terrible, the bacon was cooked in old stale oil, and food on the buffet was warmed up sometimes.

ALOHA FROM ALABAMA CRUISERS by leestearns

Sail date: /
Ship: Pride of America / Destination: Hawaii

For a ship going into dry-dock in March, the Pride is in amazingly great condition- immaculate, well-planned, spacioous, etc. Yes, there were places that showed age, but only because we were looking for them! Beautiful job keeping it up! Itinerary ws great too, giving you time to explore the islands and also time on the ship- a perfect combo! Entertainment venues were clean and spacious, bar service escellent, cabin steward accomodating, food outstanding, with something for everyone- buffet space a little crowded but hey, plenty of time to \"graze\" anyway! Getting on and off the ship on check-in and out was the best we've ever had- and this is our 15th cruise! Can't say enough good things about our week- but we've easy to please and don't require alot anyway- just grateful to be able to get away and be waited on!

A great way to see the islands by imnot1099

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Pride of America / Destination: Hawaii

The ship and crew were nice, no complaints on anything other than the entertainment on the ship was geared towards an older crowd. The on ship bars closed at 8pm to 10pm. This cruise was very good, but I would caution anyone who is looking for a nightlife on this cruise

Just An OK experience by BennyS

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Golden Princess / Destination: Hawaii

First impressions count the most. First night the pillow cases were stained and had hair from previous people. For all I know even the sheets were the same. I do know they were not changed even once the whole 14 day cruise. And I would not have given a 15% gratuity if I had a choice. But they take it automatically. Not good! I want control of how I spend my cash...

Dream come true cruise! by DKintzel

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Pride of America / Destination: Hawaii

Honestly, there was very little I would complain about. Some things could use a little updating but overall, I was impressed with the ship considering it has been sailing for seven years. It's tough to keep up with all the newest and greatest things even after the first year. No complaints whatsoever about the Pride of America.

First NCL and Hawaii Cruise by BAWK

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Pride of America / Destination: Hawaii

Pride of America was a fairly large ship, well staffed with courteous personnel generally proactive in their efforts to provide information and assistance. Only one time of dissatisfaction in 24/7 for 7 days. Acoustics for shows was good, PA system was OK if not in a cabin, where it was totally unrecognizable. Rooms were quiet, even though close to the pool area. Pool and hot tub areas were generally well kept (not allowed to become slipping hazards with a lot of water on the floor area). Did not go to specialty restaurants as I felt the added charge was unfair. Main buffet dining area was generally well stocked, but a little repetitive over the 7 days. However fresh fruit was a highlight. Did not participate in pool games, though those who did seemed to have fun. Entertainment was very good, though scheduling made it impossible to see all the ones I wanted to. SHore excursions were plentiful, and the process well organized. The prices were undercut significantly by on-shore outfits. Too bad I found out about them after the fact. Could have saved nearly 50% from NCL prices. Bummer. I think less emphasis on alcohol consumption and including soft drinks in the base price would enhance the overall experience.

If the Pride of America is an example of the NCL cruise ships its a poor show.

Replace staff starting with the chief by BrianP

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Pride of America / Destination: Hawaii

5th cruise, 1st on NCL. I selected this cruise as a way to see many of the islands without having to change hotels. However, I will never sail with them again. TSA is much easier to deal with than NCL.

Best Way to See Hawaii by CarlB4

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple

Overall the ship was immaculate and the crew helpful and attentive without being obtrusive. Ship is showing it's age and use, however the refurbishment scheduled for March 2013 shoud freshen everything up.

A bit disappointing.... by MikeMalcor

Sail date: / Traveled as:
Ship: Pride of America / Destination: Hawaii

The ship was okay. We felt that the decor should have been more tropical...as this ship only sails to the Hawaiian Islands. The music, food and entertainment should always reflect that. The cigarette smoke on the balconies and certain portions of the ship left a bad impression to us. We couldn't enjoy our vacation fully since we didn't utilize our balcony often because of the cigarette smoke
