Very good experience.  Entertainment very good.  Did not like cabin in fwd section of ship, as it made the cruise very rocky at night.  Also, the food could have been lots better.

Excursions were the BEST part of this Cruise by GypsyGirl

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Pride of America / Destination: Hawaii

We had some difficult moments on this cruise. Our room steward told us on check in day this was his last day. On Sunday no one came to our room to bring clean towels and clean our room.  We ate in the Italian Restaurant and waited forever for our food and their was nothing special about the food.  The food in the Liberty dining room was just okay.  We felt that the cruise line was trying to sell the specialty restaurants to make money.  We were very disappointed in the quality of service and food on this ship.  We have cruised 12 other times and the service and food on those was so much higher quality.  On this ship we had to address room, dining room, specialty restaurants concerns. This was our most expensive cruise everything should have been Top Notch and it definitely wasn't.  We booked our excursions through Norwegian and they were the BEST.    The nightly shows were wonderful and we enjoyed dancing in the evening.  We go on a cruise to be pampered and until we addressed several issues then the pampering started.

Hawaii by yrralrebrab

The shore excursions were OK.  Some like the helicopter adventure is well worth doing.  The road to Hana is over hyped even in the limo ride.   There were not enough seats available for the specialty restaurants.  There were some in our group that did not find attractive activities for the evenings.  The drink specials were less than acceptable.

Island Hopper cruise by linda286

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Legend of the Seas / Destination: Hawaii

Cruise was fantastic.  Getting there was another story.  Never again will I take a cruise where I fly into San Diego and have to bus to Ensenada, Mexico. Something that should haven taken no more than 3 hours took over 5 hours.  3 hours just sitting at the border.  Then the bus driver got lost getting to the port   Oh well.

Once on the ship everything was fabulous.

Legend of the Seas by Ddavis5759

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Legend of the Seas / Destination: Hawaii

Cruise could have been better. There were a limited number of activities, and the entertainment was okay at best. Our first cruise was on the Oasis of the Seas, which set a precedent. This ship was definitely not to be compared to the Oasis, which I am sure plays a major role in our disappointment. My husband and I have agreed that we will never sail on the Legend of the Seas again.

Vacation Trip by wfdealy

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Pride of America / Destination: Hawaii

Was a pleasant experience for the most part. Our concierge, Thomas Meir, did a fantastic job in helping us with several situations requiring local knowledge.

Our butler, Amanda also was helpful in putting together a special event in our suite.

All of the crew seemed to genuinely enjoy their jobs and were most pleasant to work with. Particularly Lenora the restaurant manager in Cagney's.

Great way to see the Islands! by rachrh76

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Pride of America / Destination: Hawaii

We loved this cruise! We chose the cruise as our way of "island hopping", and had a great time! The staff was very friendly and personable. They worked very hard to make sure guests were comfortable and involved in all the fun things the ship has to offer. The shows in the evening in Hollywood Theatre were awesome! The excursions we did were very organized and on time. We feel we saw a lot of the islands in the short time we were there! The tour guides were both very informative and knowledgable. They gave great pointers about places to see, etc. The ship itself was very nice, but I was a little underwhelmed, as I have cruised on bigger, fancier ships in the past. The décor was very well within their theme "Pride of America", and there were renovations occurring while we were on board. This was only  minor things (revarnishing handrails, and installing new carpet) that did not interrupt our enjoyment of vacation, as most of the work took place overnight. We would recommend this cruise! Great experience!

Carnival Legend Cruise by vedrosr

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Hawaii

Overall, this was a great cruise although the cruise started off on a bad foot.  The ship had arrived from Australia and there was a lot of trouble getting it ready for our boarding.  It took forever to get us registered and on board. We sat for almost  two  hours and at times the boarders were beginning to yell  catcalls at the Carnival staff. This was one of the worst entry to a cruise ship we have  experienced in all of our cruises.  Improvement has to be made in this regard. The room steward was excellent and all of the workers on board were very kind and friendly.  They always greeted you with a smile. Our table steward was slow to take our dinner orders and we were always the last ones at the dinner table.  He could have been a little more attentive to our needs.  We constantly had to get his attention to take our orders or to get the wine steward.  We have had lots of better ones on previous cruises. The food was average.  We have had much better fare on other cruise lines.  The food in the  Lido deck was not available  in late hours in the evening. At night time no evening snacks were available other than yogurt.

Hawaiian Vacation by brown17ashepoo

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Hawaii

To start my vacation, it was a very poor beginning.  A computer mishap occurred and ID cards could not be made for each customer.  This left all people in a large room waiting to register.  I did not get to my room until 3:30.  When I placed my order, it was told to me we could board, have breakfast and begin our vacation sightseeing in Honolulu.  It was very exhausting and my first day I did nothing but unpack, finally get something to eat, then relax.  As I am from the East Coast, I had a six hour time difference to adjust to, so basically at 3:30, it was 9:30 Eastern time.  In addition, I had bought an excursion through for a 3-Day Honolulu Pass.  Before I went to the ship I had to go and retrieve my pass only to find out it was no longer available.  Another big disappointment.  It has taken almost 4 weeks to be reimbursed for the excursion I never received.

Hawaiian was simply beautiful.  I was able to see many sights I had only read about.  One of the most enjoyable excursions was Pearl Harbor.  I also went to an active volcano, the Pineapple Plantation, the Rainfalls, and a Luau.  If I choose another cruise, I would only want to travel around Hawaiian.  This was an 11 Day Cruise with 5 days on the ocean traveling to Vancouver.  I was surprised how very chilly the ocean trip was.  Luckily I had a wind breaker, which one needed.  The pools were beautiful but the weather too cold to enjoy lazing or swimming on most days.

Previously I had been on 2 other cruises, the last one to Alaska on Holland America.  I do have to say the food on Holland America was so much better than on the Carnival Legend.  I was rather disappointed with the limited access to food areas and the selections of food that was offered.

When we arrived in Vancouver, they shuffled people off as quickly as possible.  This too was not what I had been told.  We could leisurely have breakfast, then disembark.  However, they started at Level 1 at 7:30 hustling people out.  Coming and going was not the greatest experience on the cruise.

In summary, I know now a better way to see Hawaii and will try again to have a more relaxing time on a different cruise.

Honolulu to Vancouver by KonaJW

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Hawaii

The Boarding process was very unorganized,  Started late and was slow and Carnival was not informative. The handicap people with walkers, canes, and wheelchairs had to wait in line for over 30 min with the rest of us.  There weren't enough chairs for everyone.  Once on the ship things went better, the rooms are some of the nicest in the industry.  The entertainment isn't as good as a few years back, but ok.  There are a lot of choices when it comes to dining, and the variety of food is good.  The waiters and room stewards are great.

Excellent service but missing some elements in activities by joymartin06

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: Hawaii

We enjoyed the Cascade Dining Room both morning and evening.  The food was good and the servers were attentive to our needs.  The biggest thing we missed on this cruise was access to a DVD player in our room.  Since any TV was limited on the ocean, we would like to have watched videos during the 5 sea days.  We tried to see a film but it was packed out, and we were told people were getting in line an hour in advance.  The Cinema was too small.  The shows were good, especially the singers and dancers--fabulous.  We wished for more beautiful classical music in some of the venues.  The service people wee great!  Room was comfortable.    Jimmy was our waiter and he did a super job in the Cascades first seating.

Hawaii Transpacfic cruise by gowellstaywell

We have cruised with many different cruise lines. Royal Caribbean met our expectations. The services and the staff exceeded our expectation. Enjoyed this leisurely cruise back to Canada. Would like to see a little more variety in the Windjammer. Enjoyed the speciality restaurants.

Best cruise ever! by bevzim487

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Pride of America / Destination: Hawaii

We have cruised about 7 times  previous to this.  We had cruised on Norwegian one time before and were disappointed in all aspects of it.  I was reluctant to take this cruise but since it was the only cruise line that just sails around Hawaii, decided to give it another try.

The ship is Beautiful!! The Pride of American has a totally American theme to it from the Liberty Restaurant to the Hollywood Theater.  The crew, I would say, is probably 95% American  and while foreign crews are wonderful, there was no language barriers and everyone was easy to communicate with and have fun with. The food was outstanding and abundant.  The dining rooms ran like a well oiled machine, with Douglas at the helm.

The whole activities staff were funny and entertaining...Jasper, Gary, Krystal , Gretchen and Joseph were all outstanding. The entertainment was way beyond my expectations, especially Chris Alpine the comedian.

The excursions were great.  If there is one complaint I can make is that nowhere in the cruise postings was the fact that you had to be tendered to go to Kona.  We had booked an excursion there but I am disabled and there was no way I could get on the tender.  The excursion description had said it was handicapped accessible.  I was disappointed but we went to the Excursions Desk and they immediately reimbursed us.

The cruisers covered a wide age range, which was refreshing since we had previously cruised on Holland America where everyone was, for the most part, elderly.  In fact, at two ports we stopped at there were hearses waiting!  We are senior citizens but enjoyed watching the younger generation and their children.

It was over too fast.  We definitely need to go back someday.

Hawaii by cruise ship by stwells2001

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Pride of America / Destination: Hawaii

We are in our 60's, and this was our first trip to Hawaii.  I am so thankful for the cruise ship service that took us to multiple islands so we didn't have to make our own arrangements, drag our luggage around, and spend more time waiting in the airport for the short flights.  The Shore Excursions were varied and excellent.  All our drivers/guides were so knowledgeable, friendly, and even funny.  The food was good on the ship; it was kept clean, and there was adequate on-board entertainment.  They were very organized and efficient getting us On & Off at every stop.  This is an ideal way to visit the islands.  It was our 15th cruise overall and the FIRST to have fast internet!

Great Experience by williamtspence

This was a great way to explore four islands, including Oahu, in a little more than a week. The entertainment was fantastic. The food and food service was a little below what we have been accustomed. Everybody on the ship was very friendly.

This cruise is a great way to see all the major islands of Hawaii while also having a great time on a beautiful cruise ship. The islands are diverse and have different natural attractions from the volcanos to the fern covered valleys of Kuai.

Good accomodations and food by johnchilds503

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Pride of America / Destination: Hawaii

Accomodations were clean and maintained well daily.  Food was great.  I only wish we had more time each day on shore.  Not sure why the ship had to leave at 6 PM each day, and 2 PM on the last day.
