Honolulu to Vancouver by frankgs

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Hawaii

We had a great time using the shore excursions at each stop around the islands.  We did miss Kona due to rough seas. An extra day in Honolulu to start is a great way to start, then the next 5 days were very busy on and off of the ship.  Meals in the main dining room the first 2 days was not a good start but all meals after that were wonderful.  The waiters and all crew were very attentive making dining a pleasure.

The next 5 days at sea to Vancouver went really fast and everything was nice.  The one thing we had not considered was the constant wind from the ship moving at its regular speed.  This made enjoying the deck and pools less than enjoyable.

The shows every night were wonderful, everyone was fantastic and entertaining.

I wished there had been more entertaining things to do during the day,  scheduled dancing classes, cooking or computer classes.

The Internet lounge, library was not very good!  They needed nice reading, Internet cafe for quiet relaxation.

Disembarkation in Vancouver was excellent.  Thanks for a delightful trip on Carnival.

Great way to see Hawaii by dandye

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Pride of America / Destination: Hawaii

Thoroughly enjoyed using the Pride of America to see all the Islands.  Being on all the islands on just these 7 days this was the way to go.  POA amenities and staff were all great.  I had some reservations reading other reviews about surly AMERICAN staff, but I found every one to be as good or better than on other cruises we have done.

Beautiful and a great way to see Hawaii! by lkamitsis

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Star Princess / Destination: Hawaii

I had never been to Hawaii so I wanted to experience a little of everything, and this was such a perfect way to do it if you can spare the time. It afforded us the opportunity to have a very relaxing vacation at the beginning, on the ship, then some very busy days on each island, and then another totally kicked back little vacation on the way back. A perfect break, but honestly I never wanted it to end.

Hawaii by gericpod

Very friendly and helpful crew! The dining room menu was excellent.  Very nice selection and variety. We opted for 'anytime' dining and we loved having flexibility with the time of our dinner and also being able to choose if we wanted to share a table, or have a romantic dinner for two. I loved the buffet on the Lido deck! Other cruise lines have more of a 'food court' style buffet where you put in your order, they make it and give it to you. I loved being able to actually choose the pieces of food you want to eat. We came away feeling like we had when we celebrated our honeymoon - reconnected, refreshed and in love!

Cruise Hawaii to Canada by Cruiser191

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Celebrity Solstice / Destination: Hawaii

It was a great 10 days, touring beautiful islands the first five then five very relaxing sea days on the way to Vancouver.   Our staterooms were on the back which allowed for even more scenic views.  And the staterooms were very comfortable.  As usual the Celebrity ship staff was attentive and helpful, our cabin attendant couldn't have been nicer.  And the food, well my additional five pounds attests to that, all delicious and a variety in the different restaurants, I liked Silk Harvest the best.

Overall it was a great trip and I recommend it.

Mislead on cash back bonus by larrymatson

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Solstice / Destination: Hawaii

I was quoted one value for a cash back bonus on the phone, but when I claimed the bonus after trip, was informed it was $50 less.  When I asked about the difference, I was told that I was mistaken about the phone quote, and that if I had clicked on a link in the invoice, I would have correct value.

10 night northbound Hawaii cruise by karolm67

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Celebrity Solstice / Destination: Hawaii

Overall the cruise was good, the stay in Honolulu for four day prior to the cruise was really needed for all there is to see and do in Honolulu.

I took two  tours prior to the Celebrity Solstice cruise, the Polynesian Cultural Center and Pearl Harbor Remembered.

Both of these tours was the best and not to be missed and very memorable.

The cruise itself was nice, however three islands in a row after spending four days touring in Honolulu was a bit much, you then had five days at sea with the weather getting colder with not much to do.

The ship itself was a good size, clean but lacking good entertainment and reasonable prices for shopping in their shops.

Spending extra for a room in Concierge class found towels and lush robes frayed and rough.

I would not recommend this ship and would not cruise with her again.

Hawaii cruise on Celebrity Soltice by c2sharks

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Solstice / Destination: Hawaii

We just cruised from Hwaii to Vancouver BC on the Soltice April 26, 2016. This cruise while nice and OK it didn't seem to quite match the others we've done on Celebrity. The Shore  Excursion Dept. was very confused and we received several different answers about a shore excursion. We'd also bought the speciality dining package when we arrived on board. They didn't have our reservation at all when I called to confirm the 1st one. Then we received a call that they had put in the wrong cabin number. This was corrected but the second one instead of at 6:30 that we had requested it was 8:30. The third one was corrected to 6:15. The food was very good and the waiters great.

Our waiters in the dining room were excellent and went out of their way to accommodate anything we asked for. I was disappointed that the menus have less as the everyday choices now. Very disappointed that a baked potatoe wasn't on it but if it was specifically asked for then it was served.

The entainment at night didn't seem to be as good as in the past. But we loved the Hawaian dancers that sailed with us and taught end classes. The lady that did the talk on the Titantic was awesome.

I still have one bag floating around somewhere. It was such a madhouse with three ships in port disembarking at the same time. That part was very unorganized and uncornidated between ships and the port. Our bus was supposed to leave at 9:00 and it didn't get out till 10:00 so a lot of people were disappointed they didn't get to see everything before it headed to the airport drop off.

A First-Timer's Impression of Cruising by sonomalynne

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Pride of America / Destination: Hawaii

As a first-time cruiser, I had a number of misconceptions. As an initial impression, the Pride of America was huge, but by week's end I had been forward to aft a number of times.

Eating was my main occupation aboard the vessel. I failed to gain the five pounds I was certain that I would. I tried all the restaurants aboard the ship. I met some interesting people. I may or may not cruise again.

It is expensive and not as luxurious as I had expected. The staterooms are smaller than my bedroom at home. But it was lovely to have a steward tidy up daily. Ours, Grey, was very nice.

I attended an auction, a 60s concert and some less memorable events. I had hoped to find a bridge group aboard to sharpen my skills, but alas, the card room was never really occupied. I did truly enjoy the comedian whose show I attended twice.

A Trip to Paradise by tsmcgee1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: Hawaii

The cruise was everything you could expect visiting 4 of the Hawaiian Islands; however this cruise illustrated the continued downward slide of Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines.  It seems that RC is concentrating all of its time and effort to the big ships and ignoring the smaller ships.  This ship is in need of TLC as the plumbing, electrical and surface areas need to be upgraded.  The shows were less than spectacular as well as the food menu selections. The staff was excellent as usual to help offset the shortcomings; however, it was very apparent that they have cut staff as wait times for serving were extended.  We went on a shore excursion at Hilo to visit the volcano...it was posted as a 3 hour trip; instead it was 7 hours without a break for food!

Radiance of the Seas Northbound by DOMissions

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: Hawaii

Overall, our experience was awesome with Radiance of the Seas. It wa pretty much as I expected in that we had traveled the mirror image ship on Serenade of the Seas. The service was great all the way from the room cabins to the dining room. The only negatives I would give is that I was expecting the Windjammer to be open twenty four hours instead of closing in the middle of the afternoon after I would return from a shore excursions. Also, as a sweet tooth, I wanted more selection of great chocolate deserts in the Windjammer like there used to be. I also miss the chocolate buffet that used to be at midnight. Other than that, it was another great experience

great cruise, tired ship by BuzzA

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: Hawaii

Cruise ports were ideal and very interesting, two ports had to tender to shore due to no dock and some people were un-happy with that but its the only way in some ports. The food in the main dining room was a little below normal for RCI, the beef was so bad I had to return two meals for being tough and full of fatty gristle. The ship was very tired and badly needed a face lift. Also, had some mechanical issues such as stabilizers not working completely. As a consequence, the ship was heading to dry dock after our cruise for a two week re-fresh. But it probably should have gone to dry dock months ago.

I also heard a lot of complaining from a lot of different people for a variety of reasons, even in the Diamond lounge and Concierge Lounge. Unusual for this level of cruising.

What a cruise!! by Cruiser688

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Ruby Princess / Destination: Hawaii

The Ruby Princess is a beautiful ship. It has one of the finest Capt. in the fleet but each and every member of the crew that we meet was outstanding. The food was of superior quality and served with professionalism.

All of the ports we went to were great and we had a wonderful time in them.

This will go down as one of the top cruises that we have been on.

Tropical escape by sgcourtney

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Ruby Princess / Destination: Hawaii

Probably the most restful and rejuvenating cruise we have taken. Don't get me wrong there are plenty of activities if that is what you want.  We went to escape the chaos of our daily lives. The bed was heavenly and although there were several thousand people aboard we never felt crowded. Anytime dining gave us so much flexibility. We sampled three of the specialty restaurants and stuffed ourselves. The servings at the Crab Shack were more than ample as none  us could eat it all.  The Gastropub is an experience not to miss. Again by the time we got to their famous burger we were almost too full.

A favorite of ours was the visits to the pool and hot tubs by in the Spa area.  We visited them regularly, especially after our wonderful massage sessions. The girls in the Spa can really work you over and get the kinks out.

All in all the people we met, both staff and passengers were great too.  After that much time together you begin to become one big family.

This was a repeat cruise for us and we were not disappointed

Hmmmmmm by stevevhome

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Ruby Princess / Destination: Hawaii

lots of food but most of it not quite as good as you can get at a cafeteria

lots of beer as long as you drink the limited brands they choose to carry

however the staff and on board entertainment were excellent so I rate the whole cruise ok but take away the staff and entertainment I would have rated it terrible

Fantastic Voyage by Davemarilyn

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Pride of America / Destination: Hawaii

Everything went as planned from boarding, excursions to disembarking. Staff were pleasant (esp Jerry our house keeper) and willing to help when needed. All excursions were as advertised...awesome. The islands are beautiful as is the deep blue water. The only drawback was that I forgot my passport and I believe I left it in the safe. I know that the staff will do their best to find it. Lovely trip.  Dave

Love the Islands by bonnielmckinney

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Pride of America / Destination: Hawaii

Cruising to the various Islands was wonderful.  We took tours through Delta and they were wonderful.  The beauty, the landscapes and the history were awesome.  Couldn't believe the ship ran out of Decaf coffee.  We had the same dining time as there was 10 of us.  It was disappointing not to have the same wait staff every eve.  We as a group have taken several cruises together and found it so nice to get to know the staff.  The classes on lei making was great.  (Someone took mine from my luggage) Believe that happened in Atlanta.  The shows were great.  Really enjoyed the comedian and the Vegas review.

POA Hawaii by cleverlonnevill

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Pride of America / Destination: Hawaii

I enjoyed my vacation traveling on the Pride of America ship. The ship was clean and very easy to navigate around without getting lost. I found that the staff and crew were very customer friendly and friendly. Guess services staff were always willing to assist with questions and concerns. Also, I found that it seemed that all staff were knowledgable about all aspects of the ships activities and events etc.

I thought more diversed ship activities and shows would have been beneficial.

I think with the amount of money passengers spend for the cruise and additional monies spent with on board purchases that the cruise ship company would at least provide free bottled water per day to each stateroom without charge.

Also, for sanitary reasons all passengers need to be briefed on how not to use their personal drinking vessels for re-filling from the public water and juice dispensers in the café and buffet areas. Last year on another NCL cruise the staff placed signs on the water and juice dispensers to inform people that unsanitary behavior not allowed in the public food and drink areas.

I found that the public restrooms on the ship did not have disposable seat covers or the rotating plastic seat covers on all toilet seats for sanitary precautions. Overall I felt safe and comfortable throughout the cruise and loved the islands. I loved the diversity of staff/crew on the ship.
