Great Introduction to Royal Caribbean by LJ787

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: Hawaii

This was our first cruise with Royal Carribean and will certainly be our first choice for future cruises. They did an excellent job in all areas of the cruise. The Entertainment and Cruise directors did an excellent job in making the cruise a really fun experience. Their daily show on the cabin TVs talking about the upcoming activities for the day was really helpful. The Neil Diamond show starring the cruise director was excellent. Hope they make this show a regular part of the entertainment shows. The condition of the ship’s public areas and our balcony cabin was spotless. So impressed by the general condition of the ship. Other outstanding part of the cruise was how friendly and helpful all the cruise staff was in the cabin areas, open bars, the speciality restaurants, and the main dining room. Our table waiters for the main dining room were outstanding. They anticipated our every need and were so fun with their short stories every dining night. Also loved the “towel animals” we had waiting for us on our bed at the end of the day. Very impressed with the efficiency and professionalism of the embarcation and disembarcation processes. Only suggestion would be that two days be spent on Kauai, and eliminate Kona as a stop. Just not that much to experience at Kona. One other thing that would be nice to have on the first day of the cruise would be an introduction to the ship and the facilities as well as a tour of the public areas and main and optional dining areas by the cruise director, similar to the daily compass activities show.

The hurricane Lane didn't dampen my experience. The ship was the safest place to be.

Great family trip! by JaneSprotte

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Pride of America / Destination: Hawaii

This cruise is a great way to island hop Hawaii! The service was great, the food was good, but they’re probably could’ve been a little more entertainment for young adults 18 to 21. Overall the staff could not have been more helpful and understanding during Hurricane Lane. This is not a leisurely cruise if you plan on getting on and off at every port. Having four days out at sea because of the hurricane was actually welcomed by myself and husband but not by my kids as there wasn’t enough for them to do.

Ok if you only want a sampler of each island. by causacruiser1

Kona's tendering process was bad (had to take a small boat ride to go ashore). Very long wait times to get on the small boats (30-40 min wait). It seems like There was only one entrance/exit for boarding 2 boats at a time... NCL should make more exits and boats available for the tendering process. if you book an excursion not with NCL, and NOT on the first tender boat from the cruiseshipe, you might miss your excursion. That was what one excursion vendor told us... We booked our zodiac excursion with NCL (after calling several excursion companies), but we still waited for 30-45 mins before we left the cruise ship. The tendering process needs to be improved. We were only at Kona from 7am-5:30pm, the tendering process took 1+ hour itself (for the wait time only). This does not make sense.

Hawaii and Norwegian should do better - the ports they take you to are ugly and disgusting and a huge disappointment

Wonderful family cruise with a great itinerary. Specialty dining experiences were well worth it. Penthouse suite with large balcony was amazing. Starboard side was able to watch the lava viewing from your room. Friendly staff.

Great Hawaiian cruise by kecnyr70832579

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Pride of America / Destination: Hawaii

The cruise itself was great. We knew that the balcony rooms are very small and the balconies are very big. The most crew members are very nice and helpful. Because of the short time on board during the day, no sea day, there are not so many activities on board. Luckily, we stopped at Hilo and Kona. We're surprised NCL canceled Big Island about 3 weeks before our cruise. We canceled our private tour guides. On the next day, NCL installed the 2 Big Island ports again. We had to book other private guides, because our original booked guides were not available anymore. Confusing. Although our balcony room was very small, the balcony was big.

Okay but too expensive by dgiddens21

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple

The cruise was ok. We felt there were more fee charged restaurants than ones that came with the cruise. The drinks were overpriced and watered down. Excursions were a little pricy too.

Great way to see Hawaii; by elemus20

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Pride of America / Destination: Hawaii

Good way to travel to different islands in Hawaii. Not the best cruise experience because no gambling and lack of drink package (haiwaiian law), also service/food was just ok. Didn’t docpaid for dinner but main dining room food was lack luster. Would recommend to anyone looking for an easy way to travel Hawaii but not for solely cruise experience

Birthdays and Beaches by ecthebear

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Pride of America / Destination: Hawaii

We had an unbelievable experience, but it was your staff that made it that way, in comparison to your ship and ports. You need to consider renovating the ship, fairness in beverage and excursion pricing, and the 20% gratuity on everything. We want to tip the workers, but you charge us too much for everything, so the best part of the cruise, the workers, are uncertainly compensated by us. Also, 36 hours on the Big Island. Pick a port but we didn't have time to explore like Kauai or Maui. E

Very pleased with Pride of America ship and crew. Loved our large balcony cabin and Carmen, our steward. Beautiful sites all along the trip, especially seeing the volcano from our balcony and awesome rainbows while viewing the Na Pali coast.

All-in-all an enjoyable vacation. I recommend. We arrived two days prior to the cruise and stayed in Waikiki. Hilton Hawaiian Village is a nice part of the beach area.

Due to missing 2 ports, it was an "okay" cruise. Excursions are expensive.
