Family Cruise to the Baltic by gborken

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Getaway / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

We chose this cruise for the Baltic region cities - Copenhagen, Berlin, Tallinn, Saint Petersburg, Helsinki and Stockholm. We had two adults and two teens in a balcony cabin - full size bed and then bunk beds for the kids (couch and pull down from the wall). We did not use room service or require any services from the room steward. We would give this ship 2.5 to 3.0 stars and we had arranged tours with other tour companies and did not use NCL. Getaway positives: - very efficient embark/disembark processes - food in al a carte (i.e free) restaurants was above average (as compared to our other cruise experiences - were able to leave the ship as soon as it cleared port. Other cruises the ship would only let the ship excursion groups go first and then everyone else. - Freestyle dining (i.e. no early / late seating) which allowed us to eat when it was convenient for us and there was food available 24x7 at selected locations. Getaway improvements: - buffet food quality consistency while above average as a whole there were some times where it was poor. - staff service very poor in the Freestyle dining restaurants. The exception being O'Sheehans which had outstanding service. - having to pay (which we did not see) for the main show. Also charging people $9.00 for a CD on how to make towel animals. OK, I can understand the need to make money but that is ridiculous. Overall, I felt like flying on a plane where they nickel and dime you to death. On other cruises, everything was free except for drinks and excursions and some activities (e.g. bingo). Summary, while a big ship the common spaces seemed undersized and poorly laid out.

A Memorable Experience! by Navpreet

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Brilliance of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

We had a memorable experience! The staff was especially great!! Imade (our room steward) Gabriel, Igede, Glenn (our waiter staff) were absolutely fabulous! The Cruise line is lucky to have such dedicated employees who went above and beyond to make us feel so special! They are a treasure for any company to have!

British Isles Cruise wonderful, ship tired by allisontcb

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Europe - Western Europe

Our overall trip was marred by the fact that one of the three rooms we booked had wet carpet and mold in it. Two in our party had to bunk with others for one night, and carry things to another empty room for another night, while Princess crew cut up the carpet and tried to replace it. The room still smelled moldy by our counts. The Third night Princess convinced another passenger to change rooms with us, and it was smooth sailing from there. Still, after cruising on a new Princess ship in Baltic two years ago, The Caribbean Princess is showing her age.

Great trip. The only negative on the ship was the internet service. It was very slow. Other than that, our experience was excellent. Great service.

Lovely cruise! by andsaw

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Star / Destination: Europe - Eastern Mediterranean

We had a great time with our friends and our son. It was a nice ship and the staff was very friendly. Our cabin was a balcony and was well equipped. We had been out touring Italy for 3 weeks before the cruise and so it was nice to unpack for a full week and let the ship deal with the details. Already looking at a cruise for next year.

Awesome Mediterranean Cruise-Loved every port by sarhodes

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Epic / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

I was plesantly pleased overall with this Cruise. Loved all the ports and beautiful mediterranean views. I was worried about the large amount of guests but it didn't seem as bad as ecpected. And tbe ship was extremely stable you could hardly feel it moving! This was a plus for me because I get sea sick in rough seas.

Beautiful and Picturesque by kfuller74591346

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Koningsdam / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

We enjoyed the ship, the food and the service. The activities were a little light. The reservation only restaurants were all fantastic as was almost all of the crew. We really loved the active options like kayaking and hiking in the ports. Pulpit Rock was beautiful and Flan was one o f the prettiest areas that I have been to. Cruising through the fjords was beautiful.

OVERALL PRETTY GOOD! SHOWS WERE A DISAPPOINTMENT. SHIP IS VERY CROWDED. by tmmitzel91

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Epic / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

OVERALL GOOD! SOME OF THE SHOWS HAD VERY POOR TASTE. CAN'T BELIEVE NCL WOULD ALLOW SOMETHING LIKE THAT. PROBABLY WON'T CRUISE WITH NCL AGAIN BECAUSE OF IT. SHIP IS VERY CROWDED AT TIMES. THIS IS MY 10TH CRUISE AND IT IS BY FAR THE MOST CROWDED SHIP I HAVE EVER BEEN ON.

What an Adventure! by john4461481

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Epic / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

This was a trip of a lifetime! this was our first time to Europe and we wanted to make sure we saw as much as possible. I felt the cruise was a great way to do that. All in All i would definitely recommend this cruise and would suggest any Americans looking to go to Europe take Norwegian where everything on board is in English and they use american currency.

Cruised with Friends by sannsiltre8

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Star / Destination: Europe - Eastern Mediterranean

We traveled as a couple with another couple who are good friends of ours. We had an amazing time, we just wished there were longer port times to get things in--especially in Dubrovnik, Croatia. Again, the ship is beautiful, but we kept saying to ourselves that it would have been more relaxing if it had been an adults only ship, or that the ship was larger and had more spaces that allowed for kids and families to enjoy along with those of us adults who wanted some space to ourselves. We have kids of our own, but will usually take them on cruises that are larger so there is more for them to do. Other than that, the ship is beautiful and we still had a lovely time.

Summer Trip with Kids by satis

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Norwegian Star / Destination: Europe - Eastern Mediterranean

The trip was great experience, the cruise ship was somewhat aged vessel in need of upgrades. The service and staff were great, the entertainment was super; our kids and us adults very much enjoyed it. The places visited were awesome but would have preferred a longer layover in Dubrovnic.

Not my Ideal Cruise by travelingpal

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Costa Mediterranea / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

I was with two friends. We want to go with a different cruise line when we cruise again. The cruise ports were great, but the cruise itself was somewhat off a disappointment.

Great ports of call, but sub par cruise experience by bartlesl1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Costa Luminosa / Destination: Europe - Eastern Mediterranean

Very disappointed over all. I had high hopes for delicious Italian meals on board, but unfortunately, the food was mediocre at best. That's about a positive a statement I can give. With exception for room stewards, ship Staff treats guests like they're a nuisance. Very discourteous and slow to react to customer basic needs. I sincerely hope that not all Costa ships are like this one, because if they are then it will be my last and will let everyone I know about it. I doubt Costa management cares at all what I or any of their passengers think.

As Always, Princess was Great by GaryLytton

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

This cruise has been on our list for many years. It was worth the wait. Probably the best cruise we have ever taken. We really enjoyed Alaska, but the beauty of the fjords of Norway may surpass the beauty of Alaska. The ports were definitely better.

The cruise was terrific. One of my favorites so far (I have been on 6). The ports were all wonderful (except for Helsinki, could have skipped that one).

A Really Great Cruising Experience by MarinoDA

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Vision of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

Having cruised just twice before, from Vancouver to Alaska in the Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) and the Yangtze River as part of a China tour, we found the Royal Caribbean considerably superior to either of the other two. It might be the happy confluence of an enthusiastic & entertaining captain, an ebullient & enterprising cruise director, an effervescent & endearing activities manager, and an effective & efficient staff on this particular voyage that made us feel about this cruise that way. There is no question that Royal Caribbean would be at the top of our list if we were ever to consider another cruise.

Wonderful ports terrible stateroom by christinewitmer

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Spirit / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

Felt like we needed more time in each port, except Naples. Always felt rushed. The price of your bottled water is ridiculous!! $5 per bottle or $53 for a case...come on that alone leaves a bad taste in your mouth. Then to add insult to injury it said if you purchase the water before the cruise it would be cheaper....NOT TRUE!! You were discounting the water for a case to $49 plus adding a bottle holder at a nominal price. No one would even address that situation with me. So although the steward, and wait staff is excellent...your customer service is poor. I know that isn't much of a difference...it is just the point of it all. You can't say one thing and then do another. Or show one photo and have it not be the same. Loved Italy and Greece, NCL not so much!! That is the only reason overall rating is 2.8 because of the Ports of Call.

Amazing Cruise Itinerary by seanboyle

incredible itinerary , very pleasant and efficient staff , very presentable ship. Disappointing Buffet restaurant and limited choice of other casual dining venues for example when returning from shore excursions
