Ship: MSC Splendida / Destination: Europe - Western Europe

The Splendida was really too big, too many people, but the ship was so clean and their staff so helpful, that you can over look the crowds.

Our chamber maid was the nicest person and so helpful that we left her an additional  tip.

The less expensive rooms down low were more  stable in a rough sea  and both days, the people in the top suites felt worst. A little justice.

Beautiful ship by sah4sah

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Anthem of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Western Europe

Anthem of the Seas is a beautiful ship.   The staff is courteous and well trained.   The decor is very pleasing, the ship is very clean and well maintained.

Communication between advance bookings and restaurants is lacking as they present bills for meals which have been prepaid.   Billing errors are frequent requiring trips to guest services to adjust.    Dress code is confusing and should be more uniform on certain evenings, rather than dictated by where you dine that evening.  Often some are formal while others are in jeans, which makes one feel that formality is not necessary.    Shows are very good and professional.   Alternative dining options are expensive considering that much the same food is available in the included dining areas.   I would not pay extra for those venues in the future.    Ports of call were great!   Ship is large enough to swallow up the 4000+ passengers without feeling crowded.  Internet service is way too costly.

Great cruise amazing ports! by bsanford0805

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Explorer of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Western Europe

Really enjoyed the ice show. They did a great job and it was really enjoyable. The movies at night were fun when it was warm but the big screen really made it fun to watch a movie. Great entertainment acts. Staff in dinning room great and delicious food. Had a wonderful time.

Cruise review by ftryon1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Explorer of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Western Europe

The cruise out of Southampton was an okay cruise. It was our first time to cruise on Royal and we were disappointed in it.  The check-in took a long time and seemed unorganized.  For a ship that had been redone it was not what we had expected.  The shower was very small and had stains on the floor.  It seemed like they charged extra for everything!  Our toilet would not flush 4 times for a period of an hour or two and they did not seem to care.  The internet was EXTREMELY slow.  The service from our waiters and cabin steward were excellent.

Great locations - Ship needs upgrade by NC4thCruise

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Explorer of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Western Europe

Locations were great and excursion to Seville was awesome. Ship is showing the age and needs to be spruced up and restocked. Food in upscale restaurant (Chops Grilll) was not worth the additional cost and dining room odors were not appealing.

Nickel and Dimed to death by gponkow

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Rotterdam Retired / Destination: Europe - Western Europe

Ship was boring and out dated. The ship refuses to pay for transport at docks, literally forcing you to pay for buses into the city with no walking options. You're not allowed to buy a single person liquor/beer package if there is more than one person in your cabin, you HAVE to buy two; oh and my wife is pregnant so she wouldn't be drinking but the manager refused to allow it... (who the hell is going to pay $1800 for beer for 2 weeks especially when only one person is drinking?!). Ship provided little to no entertainment for younger couples. They did nothing special to acknowledge my new bride and myself on our honeymoon.

Overall Great Ship by ccts01

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Epic / Destination: Europe - Western Europe

We wanted to try a large ship just to see and we loved it. Amazing ship so large we didn't see all ...but what we did experience was wonderful. The dinning  options amazing and delicious. We only went to those restaurants included in the cruise price and loved them. The food was amazing only had one meal I didn't care for . Loved the idea of having over the counter scooped ice cream and frozen yogurt. A person making to,order crepes was a nice touch. He told me his mom taught him. He was so,proud. I made a point of letting kitchen higher ups know although I do think they dismissed my accolades .  As non-smokers we were concerned about smoke in public areas to our surprise and delight !! Hardly ever did you even think there were smokers ( and there were a lot)'on this ship  other ships could take pointers  our last cruise from Barcelona 2 yrs ago .. Not so pleasant .. Unable to spend time in public areas due to the smoke   Staff were gracious and helpful   The only issues we had were ;  1  onboard immigration process prior to disembarking in the UK  a total nightmare 4000(+) mandatory face to face in one day ridiculous  no for thought for elderly, small children , meals missed, no place to sit, congested areas literally waited hours on line !! With no explanation or apology   A total wasted day !! Still waiting for some form of explanation 2 . Lisbon disembarkation  port so not large enough for the number of passengers   Long lines to exit    3.'the disembarkation in Southampton was a nightmare !! Printed information was left in each stateroom explains a,process of self-selecting colored tags with corresponding times to,leave the ship stating "NO ANNOUNCEMENTS" for times will be made just simply leave during the corresponding timeframe ... Aaaaahhhh NOT !' Staterooms needed to be vacated by 9:30am   ....announcements were made !'!! ( huh!!!! ????!)  , limited to no staff direction , as 4000 people tried to find place to "wait" to be called  , people cut in the line ! One person got rather surly with my husband as he and his wife tried to,cut in front of us !' This is Not !!! I,repeat not how one wants to end their vacation. It was awful!!!!

Never in all our years of crusing have we experience such  an unorganized ill informed disembarkation  !'people missed reserved coach and taxi reservations !! Many of us "walked " to the coach and train stations  as a result of that  and the limited number of taxis !'  We were lucky ! We walked the 20 min and were able to make our reservation into London !! Felt bad for those who were not so lucky!

The staff was very friendly and were able to accommodate all requests.  The food was great and a wide selection was provided.  The excursions provided were wonderful and the ability to see so many different aspects of the city was a great informative treat.

Not Good Experience by SofiaA

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Costa Pacifica / Destination: Europe - Western Europe

The Costa web page lacks of enough information. We did not know anything about our dinner and if water was included or not. We got that information the first day we got to the ship because we went to the front desk and ask. Our room was old and dirty, some lights did not work, dusty, I had to fix the shower head because it would not  stay up, there was not an iron in the room we had to rent it!!! At dinner time we had to share our table with two other people!! We took the cruise as our honeymoon!! And we had to share table???? Even on breakfast you could not sit alone! And on the buffet people would just share the table because there was not enough space! The food is not that good (except on dinner) the buffet is until 4pm and there is a "Merienda" time that is just one hour!!! So people is mean doing the lines because is not enough time to do the line and eat in one hour! And if you are hungry between lunch and dinner there was just a pizza and salad place that closes at 6pm. So between 6 and 9 (second dinner time) there is nothing you can eat. The shows in the theater were mediocre except a few that were hire by Costa. I do not recommend this cruise and this Company.

Harriet's Review of Princess British Isles Cruise by hrdci

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Royal Princess / Destination: Europe - Western Europe

Beautiful ship in public areas. Was disappointed with food in general except steak and salmon. Desserts were okay. Robe for the room was cheap. Carnival has a great warm chocolate molten cake with vanilla ice cream and the Carnival robes in the room are excellent.  Also prefer room with port hole or window but not available

on this ship. Hours for casino were very confusing.

BRITISH ISLES CRUISE 2015 by STELLATEAGUE

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Royal Princess / Destination: Europe - Western Europe

My family and I really enjoyed the Ports we visited - we chose the cruise because of the itinerary.  Had a really great time.

The Cruise?  The Royal Princess is a really beautiful ship, clean and the staff were truly wonderful - they did everything they could to make a person welcome.

Cabin was clean and roomy, everything we needed.

The food was really poor - we started off at the late seating in the main dining room.  Food was cold, uninteresting - in fact the head waiter suggested that we choose off the children's menu.

Moved to the Horizons buffet - much better with a large choice - but still could do the improvement as food was over cooked and dried out.

It's All Good But the Port Excursions by subway

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Royal Princess / Destination: Europe - Western Europe

It was a good trip and a good ship - excellent entertainment, hospitable staff BUT be wary of the port excursions.  They are expensive.  When people pay top dollar they expect a top tour.  I was told by the cruise staff that Princess contracts with Trafalgar.  I had a great overland tour with that company, albeit some number of years ago.  The bus was comfortable then, but they are NOT comfortable now.  I have taken overland tours all over the world.  Never a problem.  I assume there are "special" buses for day tours designed to pack travelers in, without regard to comfort.  I cancelled all of my long ride tours.  It just isn't worth the back ache.  And then there is the issue of Princess getting the most bang for its buck.  One tour had every seat taken including the two middle seats in the back row.  You cannot see out of those seats.  Shame on Princess.  Multiple buses were contracted for each tour.  As you might expect, the buses that had good guides had satisfied travelers.  If Princess cannot get uniformly good guides, they should limit the buses to the extent that they can get good guides.  I was on a bus tour where approximately 40% of the travelers were disabled.  To say that Princess was unable to cope with that is an understatement.  At a time when organization is clearly required there was a total organizational breakdown.  We were counted and recounted until they finally just gave up.  I think it is obvious that a time accommodation should be given if you have a significant  number of travelers who need extra time.  This was not done and it was not fair to any of the passengers.  I did have good guides and good trips.  But it is a hit or miss proposition.  In the future, this will discourage me from taking cruises on big ships unless I just want to enjoy my time on board the ship.

Wonderful Experience by lillymarva

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Royal Princess / Destination: Europe - Western Europe

I had a wonderful time - beautiful ship - staff very friendly and helpful; the food was great, a wide variety of selections to choose from; the entertainment was very special; the countries were very beautiful although a bit too cool for summer. The only negatives was on some of the Shore Excursions, e.g. 4 or 5-hour "On your Own" in countries that I never visited prior.

Ship: Crystal Serenity / Destination: Europe - Western Europe

Our Crystal Serenity cruise was fun, rejuvenating and provided experiences that will we remember for our entire life.  Big Smile

It was great docking either in the middle of town or close to towns.

One of the additional highlights was meeting people from around the worlds and making new friends.

British Isles Cruise on Celebrity Silhouette August 8 by twint00

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Silhouette / Destination: Europe - Western Europe

We were expecting more from Celebrity then what we got.  Thought it would be more "upscale" but  our experience was no better or worse than any other cruise we've taken.  Overall very average.  The ship itself was amazing but staff, food, casino, etc.  was very average.  Shore excursions were ridiculously expensive so we didn't participate in them.  It was also very chaotic when we had to use tenders to go ashore.

Great ship, wonderful crew by scherzva

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Celebrity Silhouette / Destination: Europe - Western Europe

This was my first Celebrity Cruise (though I am Diamond with Royal Caribbean) and have to admit that I am a convert. The ship is the perfect size, not too big, not too small. There is lots to do and it is a great ship for doing nothing at all.

British Isles Cruise by quadkhan

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Royal Princess / Destination: Europe - Western Europe

The beginning of the cruise was a little tense given that we were notified of an intestinal virus that had to be cleansed from our ship before departure, which was delayed by about 2 1/2 hours. Sanitary precautions were required at every station but the Captain kept us well apprised of the situation. The crew did an excellent job of sanitizing the cabins and dining areas and we settled into an acceptable routine. The food, entertainment, cabins, and overall amenities were excellent. We were not able to dock in Dublin due to bad weather, which was a disappointment. All other excursions were well organized and fun. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the cruise and commend the Captain and crew for making a tenable situation pleasant.

British Isles Cruise by goshop05156

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Royal Princess / Destination: Europe - Western Europe

Overall we had a great time. We wish we could have stayed longer in some locations. Our choice of date was lucky because many of the places we went had festivals going on. Downtown Liverpool was completely shut off to traffic. Edenburgh had the arts festival with buskers everywhere.
