Review summary

The cruise out of Southampton was an okay cruise. It was our first time to cruise on Royal and we were disappointed in it.  The check-in took a long time and seemed unorganized.  For a ship that had been redone it was not what we had expected.  The shower was very small and had stains on the floor.  It seemed like they charged extra for everything!  Our toilet would not flush 4 times for a period of an hour or two and they did not seem to care.  The internet was EXTREMELY slow.  The service from our waiters and cabin steward were excellent.

We were on board in June, we had a beer and wine package given complimentary when we booked but as soon as we got on board we upgraded to give us all alcohol for US$210 each and with Whisky going at $8 a pop I soon got my money back! When you get on go straight to the Royal Promenade where you will see a booth selling drinks packages.

Hi Guys... Wishing you happy sailing! You must be soooo excited! Please dont 4get to find out if the sparkling wine is included in the SELECT package and ALSO how much its selling 4 in US $'s.....CHEERS🍸🍸

Could someone please find out (or if you know already) if wine packages are sold on the ship, as the last time we cruised on The Radiance a couple of years ago, they sold packages that were great value if you're a wine drinker. They don't have them on the website but apparently they sell them onboard - here's hoping🍸

Haha thanx! Yes aware of the carry on ie; 1 bottle each but we're cruising for 16 days...I get quite thirsty so just trying to nut out the best option $ wise.

We are getting off in Singapore. Note that I was talking about carrying on two bottles of wine in your luggage or your carry-on bags. I read that this is permitted. If 2 bottles of wine are enough for your cruise then you don't even need to buy and alcohol package for the wine. if you post another reply here after 24th of October I will be reminded to ask them while I'm on board for you.

Thanx for your response. Yes asked the TA but they couldn't confirm. Hopefully 'all wines' means 'sparkling wine' as well. Hence me asking someone who is actually going to be ON the ship. Are you getting off in Singas or continuing.... :)

I'll try. You should be able to ask your travel agent that booked it for you. Also, don't forget, I heard you can carry on 2 bottles of wine (sparkling or otherwise) per cruise.

Hi twoguys. We're boarding in Freo on the 13th Nov. Can u do me a favour and see if sparkling wine is included in the SELECT drinks package. Cant confirm it this end! Our Aussue dollar to the US is bad atm so im thinking it might be worth getting a drinks package and just get it out the way instead of converting the whole trip otherwise at 70 cents to the US$....i might have to go on a drinks diet!!

Tho I read that the ship is 15 years old, some imperfections are to be expected. I also read that their check-in process was exceptionally fast and well organized. I guess it's not always every time. We'll be boarding in Dubai and we'll let ya know how it goes. :-)
