Not worth the $ by dhourigan

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Viking Venus / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

I know Viking can't help what Mother Nature does, however, we paid a lot of money for not much. We missed Amsterdam, Narvik, and London. We should be reimbursed for London since that was an add on, however, I think we should be given something in return for 1/2 of a trip. This was our third Viking cruise and we would be hard pressed to try another one even though we loved the ship etc.

Ukrainian citizens must have biometric passport to embark without visa by pakirene

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: MSC Virtuosa / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

Per the travel requirement provided by MSC Cruise (msc-booking@email.msccruisesusa.com), it reads like all Ukrainian citizens can visit the ports of call on this itinerary without Schengen visa and no stipulation about the specific type of passport required. As the wife (with US citizenship) to a Ukrainian husband, little did I know this only applies to biometric passport holders. I purchased the cruise as a surprise Christmas trip for my husband, who had never been on a cruise. After we left our bags at the front of the cruise terminal for check in, we were disappointed to find out at the embarkation desk that my husband wasn’t allowed to embark, so we couldn’t get on the boat. We were also traveling with my parents who are almost 80 years old. When I mentioned that they need someone to take care of them on the boat without us there, it would have been nice if someone would at least try to understand what will their needs be. Instead, everyone seems to look the other way when this was brought up and provided an option that my parents could give up the cruise and leave with us as well. One of the staffs suggested we visit the embassy the next business day to see if we could get a last minute visa, and rejoin the cruise from a different port. We took that suggestion, so I encouraged my parents to continue to go onboard, which they were very reluctant but did so in the end. We waited almost 2 hours to get our bags back out from the boat and left the cruise terminal without being able to experience the cruise, which I am sure would have been wonderful. As for the last-minute visa suggestion, no such thing exists, we just ended up spending precious time doing research, asking around, and visited different embassies to no avail.

Northern Lights by jasinskd

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Queen Mary 2 / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

Weather impacted departure from port day one but time was made up. Missed 2 ports due to high seas but a substitute (Brugges) was added. Overall impressed by the quick response of the entertainment team and crew. Excellent experience!

Glad to be cruising after the cancelled trips, but it rained some or all of every day. by lwfish43

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Island Princess / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

We learned to not arrange a trip specifically to view northern lights. Cloudy and some rain every day meant very little time (less than 2 hours) to see the lights and "severely dampened the excursions."

Big disappointment by davidsprowl80

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Dawn / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

We had looked forward to this cruise for a few years. Having the first port cancelled was a bummer - then having ALL 3 Scotland stops cancelled and spending days at sea was more than disappointing. We have opened a case and expect some kind of refund for 4 missed ports. Now, we have to spend a lot of money to replace the Scotland visit. It seemed like it was everyday business for the staff - it was just an announcement - no sense of empathy that people saved money, took vacation time, etc. to participate in the cruise. Please Note: Because 4 ports were canceled, the overall rating of this survey does not reflect our true rating of the cruise - it would be much lower.

Norwegian Shoe Excursion Department & On-board activities need improvement. by ginnybnt1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Norwegian Dawn / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

NCL is clearly NOT recovered from COVID. One person I met had sailed with them 51 times and said this was the worst cruise ever and considering a new cruise line.

4 ports cancelled by aklafg

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Dawn / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

Disappointed that the Portland UK port was cancelled. We had a tour to Stonehenge planned. Very disappointed that all three ports in Scotland were cancelled. We had two prior trips planned to Scotland that had to be cancelled. This was our third planned trip. My cousin decided to join us on this trip to bring her father's ashes to Scotland. On the day we were scheduled to be in Kirkwall would have been her father's 90th birthday and that's where she planned to lay his ashes to rest. Very sad and disappointed.

The Rotterdam is a beautiful ship, and the fjords of Norway are visually overwhelming. The crew and service staff were outstanding.

We lucked out on the weather. Over the week, we encountered two half-day bouts of rain. We even saw the sun several days during the cruise. Beautiful ship - Viking Venus!!

A fantastic trip of a lifetime. Disappointing that St. Petersberg had to be cancelled for obvious reasons, but the added stops all were a pleasant surprise.

Norway is incredibly scenic. The Fjords are unbelievably majestic. by toddwayne58

Very nice. Most entertainment was repeated first week to second week so that was a little disappointing. Overall a very good experience. Spa was great!

Pleasant Cruise in the Fjords by lindalee5157948

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Rotterdam / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

The Rotterdam ship is comfortable with a reasonable number of guests, and a well-trained and delightful crew. We felt pampered, cared for, and well fed. The cruise ports and itinerary offer some beautiful sights of fjords.

Fantastic Cruise, Great Itinerary by jake18834

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Dawn / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

Loved the ports. The ship was very clean. Very easy to get around The food was ok including our visits to Le Bistro and Cagney's Enjoyed the variety of entertainment. The dance floor in the Bliss Lounge is simply too small. The front desk staff were very helpful. Our massages were good.

The cruise was Ok except that they canceled two of the best ports and kept us at sea for two days instead of giving us other choices. hey could have picked two other ports so we could have spent our money more wisely. They took advantage of the customers. by bbcdrj

Ship: Norwegian Dawn / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

I will think twice in the future with my friends about rebooking. Also the flights they book us on were horrible. Never any direct flights on one that took 10 hours to get to our destination. Never again will I trust them with my air ticket.

cruising and covid by dlbecker16

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Norwegian Dawn / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

I will not be cruising anytime soon. got Covid. NO social distancing, minimal mask usage. even though all had to be vaccinated, with the high rate of people getting the current variant, more should have been done to keep the customers safe.

overall good trip but ship needs some changes by cparn500

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Prima / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

beautiful ship, venues for comedy and music are way too small, cabin was spacious and comfortable, buffet is kind of small compared to other ships, ship is kind of choppy inside and difficult to know where you are, we like the fish on the floor on the other ships to tell us which way to the front or back,

Nice Cruise at Pleasant Time of Year by billgrum

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Island Princess / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

I did this cruise out of interest in the ports and was totally pleased with my experience exploring each one. The ship excursions were overpriced and unnecessary since all ports are easily explored on your own, as I did. The ship was fine, seen better, seen worse. The ship staff was excellent.
