Disappointing cruise to no where by RashidaM

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Norwegian Dawn / Destination: Cruise to Nowhere

My expectation on going on a cruise ship was to be engulfed in luxury. Since I was going on a cruise to nowhere, I primarily expected to enjoy the amenities on the ship. Unfortunately, the cruise seem to mainly offer drinking alcohol and gambling. The spa and other entertainment closed way to early to enjoy. The food was also mediocore and the service was the same. Everyone pays a ten dollar tip upon boarding, so the staff did not seem to have much incentive. I also felt that dining should have been available 24 hours, but everything shut down at midnight (except the casino.) I spent about $600 on this one night cruise and I think I would have been better off going to a Broadway play

We were surprised that there was food constantly. I have never before had food in the casino. We also liked the idea of free style dining.

Cruise to nowhere 10/14/2006 by DougT3

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Dawn / Destination: Cruise to Nowhere

I have been on four cruises to nowhere, on three different ships. The Norwegian Dawn is fine, but anyone who has never been "nowhere" should realize it's a short cruise. Most everyone is in bed by 1 am, and you have to be off the ship a little after 9 am. You have to compress a lot of fun into a little time. But it is a lot of fun.

Great Little Get-Away by JudyF4

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Spirit / Destination: Cruise to Nowhere

For a little one night get-away, my husband and I had a great time! I splurged for a balcony stateroom and I was not disappointed. Our cabin steward made himself known and available to us. The line to check in was extremely long, but being Latitude members, we got to bypass most of the wait. Once on-board, we had a great time. We found many things to do and see. I found the layout of the ship to be a bit more confusing than some of the other ships I've sailed. We never did find the disco. I thought the choices for specialty dining was good, but I'm not too crazy about the idea of an extra fee for them. We had dinner in one fo the main dining rooms, Windows, and it was one of the worst dining experiences I've had on a ship. It made me wish I'd spent the extra money for a specialty restaurant. The line to get into the restaurant was very long and very confusing. It didn't appear that the people were all that organized. Our first waiter (we had about 3 or 4 service people) barely spoke English, so we had trouble communicating with him. We asked for a wine steward to help us with selecting a bottle of wine to go with our meal and we didn't get one. There was a mix up in the order and my husband's order was delayed even more. My meal wasn't that good, plus it was cold. The maitre d did come over and helped make this situation right. My next meal was hot and good. With this one exception, our overall experience was good. When we were out at sea, I barely noticed we were moving. I would consider going again.

Fun and Relaxing Cruise on the NCL Spiri by EstherA

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Norwegian Spirit / Destination: Cruise to Nowhere

Smaller than the Dawn. Indoor buffet area and store felt crowded and noisy even though ship was not full. However, the ship is very pretty, especially the lounge and observatory area.

Sailing from New York is a breeze! by MaryT12

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Norwegian Spirit / Destination: Cruise to Nowhere

Sailing from New York was such a great way to start our cruise. We got on board early and our vacation began instantly! The service was excellent...every staff member was always friendly, helpful, and smiling. Cruising is such a pampering experience---and it fits all types of people...you can do as much or as little as YOU want. The SPIRIT has something for all ages. We`ll be back again!

My First and Not My Last Cruise. by SherryB6

I was impressed about so many entertaining things that were offered on the ship and the different places to have fun. Sometimes, it really did not feel like I was on a ship.

"Cruise to Nowhere" by MaryS3

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Victory / Destination: Cruise to Nowhere

During the night, there was a "glitch" and our cards didn't work. I had to go to the Purser's Desk to get us re-instated but I had to show my credit card again. I couldn't give them my credit card because it was locked in the safe in our room which we could not open because the cards didn't work! I was shopping for gifts when this problem came up and the shops do not take cash. That is perfectly ridiculous! However, the Purser's Desk took my cash to re-instate my card. Upon returning to the shop to make my purchases, the cashier sold my items to someone else and there were no more to be had. I bought nothing.

Could've been better... by BarbaraF7

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Norwegian Dawn / Destination: Cruise to Nowhere

Overall, the potential was there - it was a beautiful day and perfect for cruising. But the boarding procedure was time-consuming - it took close to two hours. Staff on the ground were downright unfriendly and mocking. We finally were able to get onto the boat, when the life-boat drill took another 40 minutes. OK - we got beyond the hoardes and found a quiet spot - finally. Then we were able to start relaxing. Overall, if the boarding staff had been friendly and helpful, it might have been a less stressful "vacation" getaway. But, no. Won't do that ever again!

"One Day of Splender" by VilmaD

Ship: Norwegian Dawn / Destination: Cruise to Nowhere

This cruise is the best thing I have spend my money on in a long time. I went back to work on Monday and was taking so much about it and showing off the pitcures I took that my co-workers are now asking me to make plans for another and include them.

My first cruise by NoelV

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Dawn / Destination: Cruise to Nowhere

Well my first impression of the ship was like any other first impression for a first timer. It was HUGE!! I've never set foot or even come near a cruise ship until my first voyage, so I was automatically impressed. Upon entering your room the staff instructs the passengers to participate in a mandatory life jacket drill in the theatre, after that the fun began. Everyone goes up to the very top deck and there is the most amazing barbacue with live music and of course drinks. Just so i won't spoit it for you I will just say that the food was great just don't over eat because you still have more food coming to you through out the day.I did the cruise to Nowhere which was for 1 night and I sure wish it was for much longer because I never really got to enjoy all that ship offers. My girlfriend and I stood in the Balcony stateroom and it was just perfect. It was great to have a room with your own balcony with patio furniture especially when you just want to sit outside in your own privacy and have a few drinks. The bed was pretty comfy, great sized bathroom every thing separated. You have your own fidge where you can store cold beers or whatever. For dinner my girlfriend and I went to cagney's steak house and the food and service was great. It was a specialty resturant which meant you had make a reservation and pay for the dinner but it was worth it. The service was a little slow at first but it was a full resturant and a full ship. After dinner we went to the casino played a few of the slots and won a little drinking money which was great. After digesting the food we both went to Dazzles night club and it was just a really fun night. They first had some karoke where you see random people make fools of themselves but afterwards they bring in a DJ and the real party starts. Non stop dancing, good crowd, and of course the non stop service. Every time my drink was empty someone from the ships staff was there to take care of it. At the end of our voyage to nowhere the ship serves a breakfast buffet of pretty much anything you can think of eating in the morning. Overrall my one night on the Norweigan Dawn was just the best. My girlfriend and I are now planning to do a real 5 day cruise. I recommend the one night cruise to anyone who has never been on cruise. It is a good way to experience what it is like before you commit to a longer 5 or 7 day cruise.

The Anthem has a Long Way To Go... by crispyon1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Anthem of the Seas / Destination: Cruise to Nowhere

Its a shame to have a new ship launched and it just plagued with problem after problem.  The first time I cruised on the Anthem was Jan.12th 2016 and I new before walking on board the ship that there were going to be problems.  The welcoming staff was very inattentive and my biggest problem was that the staff NEVER pushed or reminded the guest to Sanitize their hands.  This lack of protocol went on for the entire 12 day of the cruise.  When I filled out the Royal Caribbean customer survey at the end of the cruise I told them that the crew and staff is asking for an Outbreak of NOROVIRUS.  Sure enough exactly 1 month later the Anthem had an outbreak of norovirus.  Well I figured that with this current cruise the crew and staff would have cleaned up their act but after cruising on this weekend cruise to nowhere I can see that the crew and staff of the Anthem still hasn't learned their lesson about being pro active in informing everyone to Washy Washy / sanitize their hands. All I have to say is that I told Royal Caribbean that I wont be cruising on this ship ever again.  SadSad
