Embarkment put a damper on cruise by Melinda57427099

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Victory / Destination: Cruise to Nowhere

The ship was very nice. We found it hard to know what floor(deck) we were on. Finally figured out the numbers on the carpet in front of the elevator doors told you the deck level. Although the numbers were too fancy to figure out..I would have never figured that out on my own. Wanted to play shuffleboard but could never find the equipment to play with. Nobody seemed to know where it was.

2 day cruise to nowhere - good budget! by JulieJ86717559

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Victory / Destination: Cruise to Nowhere

It was a very large ship with lots of places to buy drinks. But, only two main swimming areas and limited food outside the dining hours. I spent $60 on drinks for 2 people in the first 6 hours! I wish there were more shops and activities that I wanted to do. There was a lot of stuff that was not for my age group (21 to 35).

First and Last NCL Cruise by KerriE

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Norwegian Dream / Destination: Cruise to Nowhere

The entire experience was disappointing to say the least. Every aspect from service, food and amenities were lacking. As my first cruise, I expected much more and expected a 3 day cruise on this cruiseline to be their opportunity to court me as a future customer. They did the exact opposite. I wouldn't recommend this ship or this cruise line to anyone. I have attempted to issue a complaint with the company and even that has been a hassel.

A fun, quick getaway! by LynI28435816

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Norwegian Pearl / Destination: Cruise to Nowhere

The ship was beautiful and was kept sparkling clean! Our oceanview cabin fit us three fine and the beds were very comfortable! It was a perfect size for our two night cruise and we didn't have trouble finding anything.

Horrible Experience by LindseyY

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Norwegian Dream / Destination: Cruise to Nowhere

I have been on other cruises and was really looking forward to going on this one with 25 friends. This was such a disapontment. The food was horrible and to get a drink of anything took at least 1/2 hour. The staff had no idea what they were doing. The only place you could smoke besides outside, was the Casino, so that is where everyone went whether they were gambling or not. The Freestyle dining is a joke. I would not sail on NCL anytime in the future unless they got thier act together.

Inferior Dream by SusanJ6

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Norwegian Dream / Destination: Cruise to Nowhere

The Dream was very unclean and smelled. Uncleanliness gave you the heebie- jeebie's. Food was not good either. Not alot of variety like on other Cruise lInes.

A Great Short Cruise by SelmaO

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Dawn / Destination: Cruise to Nowhere

This was my first cruise ship and I was very impressed with everything. I read some of the reviews and heard from other about how other liners that they were on were too small. I being a plus size woman was afraid I would be uncomfortable in the cabin. To my surprise and delight I was very comfortable. We were with another couple on the ship and they have been on another liner and they were very much happier with this ship, then they were with their other cruise ship. Our friends almost didn't come, then changed their minds and came. Thru out the trip they kept saying that they were so happy that they came and that it was a really nice ship and that they were having a great time. By the end of our trip we said we would do this again. The ship personnel were very nice and pleasant always smiling. Service was excellent, food at the different restaurants were great and even the food at the buffets was great. The ship was very clean. A ship that was completely full was always clean, even the public bathrooms. Some of the staff joked with us, which to me showed that they enjoyed their jobs. Our hats off to all that work on the Norwegian Dawn cruise ship. Thank You for making our trip a very memorable one.

Royal CRAP-bbean by HeatherM6

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Sovereign of the Seas / Destination: Cruise to Nowhere

First & foremost - This ship smells like someone used the bathroom. When we first boarded we thought maybe someone did & it would just go away but it didn't. It stinks atleast from the 2nd-6th floors & maybe even higher than that but they try to leave the restaurant doors open to cover the smell. We even had a waiter tell us they are going to retire the ship by the end of the year because of the smell -- It's that bad!! Another thing we didn't like was they would close all the restaurants several times throughout the day -- we found it very inconvenient for them to close before & while you are at the ports of call & again at night between 5-7pm....However, they conveniently kept Johnny Rockets & Ben & Jerry's open during these times, which cost extra money. It was basically a money scam. We even met a couple on the last day that was going to contact the BBB to file a complaint because they felt it was a money scam. As for the "coke card"...I thought it was a pretty good deal at $6 a day -- They had so many people willing to serve you the first night but after that, you have to search for one of the coke carts, which becomes a hassle when you have hot food ready to eat & you have to walk around & find someone to fill up your coke. It would have been nice if the waiters would get the coke for you but they tend to all stand by each other & talk & only clean off the tables at the end...not ask you if you would like something to drink. BUT, they do exspect you to tip them -- That is all you hear about all trip. Any chance they get, they try to announce the suggested tipping proceedure & they also will turn on your tv to that channel so you will rememer to tip them. Lastly, the ports of call -- We were 2 hours late getting off the ship in Nassau. They cancelled Cococay (which was the only other port besides Nassau) due to the weather -- which everyone found odd since they had delivered an itinerary the night before stating the weather was going to be 78% with few showers -- If the weather changed that fast, they should have issued us a on board credit or a credit towards a future cruise...Or, they could have taken us to Key west or somewhere. I mean 1/2 of what we paid for was going to this island!! But, I think it was yet again another money scam to keep us on the boat spending money. Our $250 per person trip turned out to be more like $1,000 per person -- We had to pay to eat several times on this ship & to keep ourselves occupied we played bingo & stayed in the casino & drank. Did I mention they charge a 15-25% gratituity on ANYTHING you purchase. The boat was way too small for the amount of people that were on the ship. The pools were all full & the 2 hot tubs only seat about 4 people each so if you are one of the lucky 8 people out of almost 3,000 on the ship to actually get in the hot tub it was like hitting the lottery. To sum it all up, all of the "free" or included things on this ship are not open a lot of the time or are small (the pools/hot tub/fitness center). The best & nicest parts about the cruise are all larger, nice & cost extra money -- Johnny Rockets, Ben & Jerry's, the spa, etc. The only positive thing I can say about this experience was the staff was very friendly.

Go ! Norwegian Gem!!!! by LatriceB

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Norwegian Gem / Destination: Cruise to Nowhere

I sailed with a friend she and I had a wonderful time. Next time, we can stay in a regular stateroom as they were so nice and clean instead of a mini suite. We partied so much, sleeping was the last thing we did therefore not needing to spend the extra money on that particular room. I'd stay in a suite again if I traveled with my husband and kids. Maybe next time HaHaHA!!!! Awesome boat for one person or several.. BOn Voyage!!!!! LDB

weekend cruise by LouiseH1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Gem / Destination: Cruise to Nowhere

We took this beautiful new ship for a weekend cruise. It was short, but very worth it. The ship was wonderful. We never slept. There was so much to do. We have already booked a longer cruise on this ship. I can not wait. The only thing I have changed on my next cruise is the cabin. We were in an outside room. We were never in the room. This time we booked an inside room. The outside rooms were the same size as inside.

NCL stands for NO CASH LEFT by BrianP6

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Norwegian Majesty / Destination: Cruise to Nowhere

I hate to bore you all with the crazy details but this boat is a joke, go elsewhere! NCL hooks you on the "Freestyle" BS but in all actuality, without reservations for each and every meal, you'll stand in line the whole time waiting for an open table. More like Freestyle standing. Don't get me started on drinks... The wait staff is VERY pushy and would make excellent car salesmen. The drinks aren't really that good and the cost is north of ten bucks. But let's look at what IS included: Water, Coffee and Horrible Iced Tea, that is IT. And you have to go to the 10th deck to get it. Or, you can pay $2 for a soda? Or should you pay $63 for a sticker to get free sodas? (either way is a scam) Hey, I've got an idea, lets all play Bingo* (*Note, all players please pay $20.00 for a bingo card and we really don't tell you what the prize is until somebody wins) Kids Club staff is RUDE. Last thing I want to do is send my kids off to be with someone who could care less about their job let alone my kids. So when I went to complain at the front desk, they paged the manager of the department and guess what... It was the same person who treated me like crap. (Lets lead by example people) Lastly, to top it all off, "it's too windy to stop in Cozomel so we're just gonna go to Key West and skip this port". So I paid $200 per person in govt fees and port fees for this trip, and NCL only refunded me $11 per person for missing Cozomel. HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Carnival Victory Cruise to No Where by JanetW11

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Victory / Destination: Cruise to Nowhere

The ship, although a little dated, was kept in a clean and enjoyable state. The furniture was comfortable. Our bed was a little hard. We had a outside balcony stateroom. Will do that again. To stand outside on the balcony was a wonderful experience. Our steward was fantastic!

Great time.... but disappointed by MariaF12

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Norwegian Dawn / Destination: Cruise to Nowhere

Had a great time! My granddaughters loved the kids room. The staff were friendly and helpful. I just have a couple of comment s- we pay upfront the cost of the ship and to have people pay a surcharge to certain restaurants is dissappointing. You go there to enjoy yourself and want to feel free to go anywhere in the ship without having to pay any other monies out of pocket. Even the pictures are expensive! Most of them get thrown away why not sell them for $5 to $10 a piece so that we buy more?
