I grew up in Long Beach so I am used to it, also why I moved away 12 years ago. There are too many people, prices are high but you can get good food and do some shopping if you are into that type of thing. Los Angeles is not that far, however because of traffic it will take an hour to get 20 miles.

First time to Long Beach area. We had friends that were staying at The Maya Hilton and it was so beautiful there. Not my favorite, they traffic was awful and construction by the port sucked.

Tricky finding the car ramp with the road construction. Maybe our GPS just gave us lousy directions.

The carnival parking was closed off and we had to park at an off-site location. They provided shuttles back to the ship but it took us much longer than expected.

No excursion since it was our outgoing port--but Long Beach is lovely--lots of places to eat and fun things to do.

Took free shuttle in Newport; have been to L.A. and surrounding areas but had not to Long Beach. Plan to spend more time next time.
