The ship was exactly what I expected, over the top. It is dated, but again the staff made up for all of it. They were welcoming, gracious, generous, and genuine. If I could suggest anything, I would say to work on the desserts. They had a chocolate buffet I was so excited about and most of it needed improvement.
Embarkation

Easy as it gets.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
The food was average. I was most disappointed in the desserts. I was also disappointed in the "formal" nights. They were far from it. Since this was my first cruise, I made sure to read the dress code and honestly I was excited to dress up but this code is very very lenient. I saw people in t-shirts and jeans.
Onboard Activities

Love the pool area and mini golf.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
loved Dj Miguel on the lido deck pool area. The daily shows by the pool were my favorite. Pleasantly surprised by the Lip Sinc show finale, it was great. My daughter went to quite a few of the comedy shows, she said they were hit or miss. Cruise director Lee was by far the reason everything was so amazing. He is a master at his skill and Carnival is lucky to have him. I would come back just to see him.
Children's Programs
My granddaughter was signed up to go to the Ocean Club, but refused to go lol.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
n though this ship is quite antiquated, the service and staff made up for it. They went beyond the usual and Carnival should commend themselves for their training and hiring standards.
Ship Quality
3 out of 5
The ship definitely has a Vegas vibe, lots of light and colors. This really isn't my taste but again the staff kept the ship pristine. They were constantly cleaning and tidying up the place.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
This was my first cruise and went into to this vacation knowing my room was going to be small. Yes my room was small, but it has tons of drawers, closets, and shelves to put things away. I want to thank everyone who told me to immediatemy unpack and put all suitcases under the beds. My rooms was kept clean and my request for extra towels was kept everyday.
Ship tip
This ship isn't for uptight people. It has a very laid back vibe. They were kids running around and people drinking up a storm. So my only advice would be to come with a good attitude and go with the flow.
First time to Long Beach area. We had friends that were staying at The Maya Hilton and it was so beautiful there. Not my favorite, they traffic was awful and construction by the port sucked.
Even though we had people trying to sell us everything we had a blast. First day at the port we just ate and walked around buying souvineers. The second day we took a tour on a glass boat and ended up on a beach just relaxing. We ate lunch at Cachet Beach Club, the ceviche here was top notch. The water was beautiful.
I didn't get to explore downtown Puerto itself. I did the Las Caletas excursion and it was worth every penny. The boat ride out to the beach is a good 45 minutes but as soon as you get onboard they offered beverages both alcoholic and non. The entertainment staff on the boat were amazing and they made 45 minutes feel like 5. The beach itself has kayaking, paddleboarding, snorkeling, and zip lining. Lunch and drinks are also included. Do this excursion, it was a blast.
We had the option of checking our luggage or just carrying it ourselves to get off faster. We did the latter. It wasn't the worst, but there was such a backup of people waiting to get off that it took much longer than expected.
