Not a bad port to sail from but we learned the hard way that Duty Free doesn't mean free of Texas Use Tax. $3.74 on a liter of alcohol.

Galveston needs better signage when entering the port so you do not go to the wrong terminal. There was also an accident at the port because the directional signage is so bad.

Spent the night there the night before and that's about it. Be prepared for traffic going to and from the port. Tip: Uber and Lyft drivers don't like doing runs just on the island from the port.

Great place to sail out of. Go to Galveston a day early and enjoy the many Venus it has to offer. We went to the Rain Forest Cafe for evening meal followed by watching the volcano erupt (every 30 minutes or so).
