Review summary

We loved every minute of our cruise and are looking forward to sailing on the Vista's sister ship, Panorama, next year.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Very fast and efficient. We did note some inconsistencies (some people in our group had their carry on wine scrutinized while others we just told to bypass) but overall, we were through the process and on board within 30 minutes. We boarded at 11:00 am and our stateroom was ready, but we are Platinum.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Menus on the Carnival ships rarely change but I don't cruise for the food and we never went hungry.

Redfrog Pub and Brewery

5 out of 5

What an awesome place to hang out with friends and relax! We learned that on port days, they have 1/2 piece happy hours just before sailing. I recommend the Fishbowl! Tennyson is an excellent waiter!

Fahrenheit 555 Steakhouse

5 out of 5

We had dinner here on the third night and all 8 of us said it was amazing!

Cucina Del Capitano

5 out of 5

We ate here for lunch and it was delicious!

Alchemy Bar

Bartenders were rude.

Onboard Activities

Sky Fitness

5 out of 5

Several activities available to exercise at sea. We found an outdoor area that had elliptical type self powered equipment on the top deck!

Fun Shops

5 out of 5

Lots of opportunities to shop. Absolutely love the $10 sale.

Entertainment

So much to do, we could have stayed another week! Love the IMAX theater where we watched Gemini Man and Dive In movie watching Yesterday. Many movie options throughout the ship. We even had on demand movies in our room.

We love the location, one deck below the Lido, neat the stairs. We didn't hear any extraordinary noise being this close to the Lido, although you could certainly hear neighbors moving the chairs on their balcony. Three couples in our group all had balcony staterooms. We all felt that storage and closet areas were less on the Vista than on older ships. It was nice having two plugs under the vanity mirror plus a USB outlet. Interesting thing to note, lights won't stay on unless a card (sail and sign in theory) is inserted into the slot near the door. We found a good work around though. Any card that fit would work.

Ship tip

Plan on exploring the ship. So many new and different food and entertainment venues to experience.

Ports of call

Galveston, Texas

3 out of 5
Not a bad port to sail from but we learned the hard way that Duty Free doesn't mean free of Texas Use Tax. $3.74 on a liter of alcohol.

Belize City, Belize

5 out of 5
This is a tender port and we took a Carnival endorsed beach excursion to Starfish Island. A delicious jerk chicken lunch was included and the beach was beautiful. Just remember to wear water shoes because it is mainly crushed shells.

Disembarkation

3 out of 5
Getting off the ship was very smooth but customs was a disorganized nightmare. Long lines and rude employees.

did anyone in your party stay in room 9441? I have this room and that room for a cruise in march. Just trying to figure out which room to put the kids in if there are noise issues, lol
