Suppose to have 1400 staff on ship and had a staff member indicate that there were only about 1100 staff on ship.. They were 300 short for the cruise, makes sense after the service for the bar areas where typically staffed only by 1 bartender for the Havana bar which has a inside and outside bar area, when out of Miami there did not seem to be that issue again it seems to be a decline in service for Carnival(money, money, money!)... Always had to find the bartender to get a drink...
Embarkation
3 out of 5
Had issues with gangway, many did not get on ship until after 4PM, ship delayed port by 2 hours...
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
Dining is to be expected on Carnival, the floating Dennys is commonly heard... The Italian restaurant was quite good...
Onboard Activities
2 out of 5
Tended to be over crowded and lack of staff on ship delayed drinks and food availability...
Entertainment
2 out of 5
In the past Carnival use to do 70's at 7pm, 80's at 8pm and 90's music at 9pm and was quite good and could go dancing during those times... Now it is way to generic playing the mix across and thus there would be one song you could dance to then several from different eras that you could not...
Service and Staff
3 out of 5
Many new hires and very little communication with guests... In the past when Vista was out of Miami the staff was much better and more attentive... Just don't see that now in Galveston on the Vista...
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
Great ship design, we enjoy the Havana experience every time... We have been on Vista several times in the past 2 years and we have seen the decline of the service... The cruise director seems to cater more to minorities and LGBT/Gay guests and leave out the rest on the ship... Communications on activities by Matt(Cruise Director) was very bad and especially on last day...
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
Was a bit nervous about a inside cabin but was surprised how quiet the room was compared to in the past having the outside Havana Suites, we choose inside cabin due to the security issues with the sliding glass doors not staying secured in previous cruises and have a theft issue on our last cruise(report was filed, nothing was followed up on) not too good communication skills with the security and maintenance on the ship...
Ship tip
If you take the Havana experience and you have an outside/patio/balcony be aware that the sliding glass door on the back side is NOT secure... You can try this and you will see... Go onto your patio and close the sliding glass door it will lock by a electro magnetic lock, with your card key provided in the room you can open this as normal, however while it is locked, TUG on it(try to open) you will find that it will pop open and thus people can enter your room and take stuff from the room... Pretty sad they did not fix even on this last cruise and we had chatted with a few quests to give them that test and we found that it was still a issue and is not secure... If you have one of these rooms you should lock with the latch from inside the room and go out the main cabin door... The back sliding glass doors are NOT SECURE... Beware!
Typical Cozumel and Mexico stop over... Being sold stuff when you are getting off the ship... Really? Getting liquor and cigarettes being peddled to you before you even get off the ship and go thru security... Pretty bad... Carnival should change that allow you to bypass the shops when you disembark the ship...
You’re the first person to say something bad about Matt, the CD. I can’t take your review serious. If Vista so bad, why keep going on her, try another ship ?
