Very easy on and off the ship. We did not do an excursion. However, we came to NYK by Amtrak and walked to the port (about 45 minutes)

Excellent, we went by car (from Montreal) we parked three blocks from the port, we went on foot, everything went very well.

Just back from a 7 day to Bermuda, NYC is a hassle, but the views from the ship of NYC are spectacular, worth it all. PS visit the Intrepid air and space museum right next to the ship.
