A: The ship is normally in Victoria around 4 -6 hours…so not enough time to truly enjoy without the stressors of getting back to the ship on time…there are some tours that will pick you up and drop you off outside the security perimeter …the horse drawn... carriage is nice…so is the Orca watching trip…there are shuttles going back and forth between down town and the ship…and. A nice leisurely walk is nice…but do keep an eye on the time…you do not want the cat calls given to pier runners…or worse yet ….seeing the rear of your ship as it sails into the sunsetSee More

A: No, it is not worth it. Victoria is beautiful. If I could do it over I would not get off in the evening. Daytime yes!

A: On question #2 there are harbour tours for $40 a person. Located across the street on the waterfront across the street from the Empress Hotel. They are very informative and the scenery is great. Visit Victoria Harbour Tours for more info.

A: their summer hours, from Wednesday to Sunday, they are open until 10:00pm.
Answered by ASYoung on April 10, 2023
A: If you are there on a day when the gardens are open until 10pm, you will realistically get a maximum of 2 hours to explore. Maybe less time, depending how long it takes for the ship to clear customs at the port. On a positive note, it stays light unt... il almost 10pm in July in Victoria, so you would still be able to see everything.See More
Answered by LisaKitty on April 10, 2023
A: I don’t think that it is worthwhile…considering the time it takes to leave the ship and commute both ways…it would be the similar to trying to enjoy a visit to Disneyland in 3 hours

Q: Butchart Gardens excursion on NCL is almost $150 per person, that seems really steep... on the city bus it's about 45 minutes each way, are there tour folks on shore that offer rides there and back? Are Lyft or Uber available in Victoria?

A: I’ve gone to the gardens twice and they are so worth it. Due to the distance I would do it thru cruise. The gardens are nothing like I had ever seen. Well worth the money!
Answered by tkself on April 6, 2023
A: it's a 37 minute commute (each way) from the cruise port to the Gardens, cab rates will run $45 to $55 one way. Check Viator, you might save a buck or two
Answered by ASYoung on April 2, 2023
A: That is pretty steep. Does it include the afternoon tea?
Answered by jallaway on April 1, 2023
A: Yeah, that's a really expensive coach bus ride! Tickets are around $40 (Canadian, not US) if purchased through the website. I can't imagine a taxi would cost $110 each way. So you're definitely better off financially booking on your own. Also, I highl... y recommend the high tea at Butchard, if you have time. As I recall, it was around $55 or so. Totally worth it!See More

Q: Do Americans require Passports for cruises stopping in Canada? Yes. Never take advice from people in this group as for as many’s no responses you’ll get as many yes responses. Check with the entry requirements of the country you are visiting for accurate information. You can be denied boarding on day one, they don’t have to refund your money. Most cruise line agents don’t have answers to these questions either. Get it from the country’s website. Don’t ruin your vacation cuz Joe Blow said you don’t need one.

A: Carnival sent out a letter recently to those with upcoming paid cruises stating the new rules. How long this rule will be in effect will remain to be seen. I’m not going to repeat what it said but go straight to carnival to get the latest.

A: You require a passport to board the ship if you are stopping in Canada, you will be denied boarding without one and lose your money as well. It has no bearing on whether or not you choose to get off or not. Americans require Passports to enter Canada... , unless you are driving and have an enhanced drivers licence, the same as we Canadians require a passport to enter you country.See More

Answered by jallaway on February 24, 2023
A: cruises that start and end in the U.S. (with the exception of a listed few) authorized copy of a birth certificate and enhanced id will do. passport is recommended because a passport would be needed if you unexpectedly have to fly out from Canada.

A: I dont even think you can get on the ship without a passport .....
Answered by shipbarnicle on February 24, 2023
A: you'd be best to contact the cruise line directly to ensure you have the proper documents. Royals' web site specifically says "no refunds if you arrive without the required documentation" IMHO, if they say documentation isn't required, GET THAT IN WR... ITING, and have it with you when you check in. It's better to expect the worst and be prepared than to be out thousands of $$See More

A: We are at Tracy’s crab shack. Omg they were so fresh and clean tasting. Located at the Juneau right at the port. Big red building.

A: I've only had Fish n Chips in Victoria; but do know that if a place is advertising Alaskan King Crab, it's either not Alaskan or frozen (probably both). The U.S. King Crab season was cancelled this year.

A: Victoria is a fun little cosmopolitan city! Feels like a very quick visit to mini-London. Get out, grab a taxi or Uber, and head into town for dinner.
