We took a ship excursion to the Aquarium and the Carmel Mission. Both were entertaining. There is plenty of time to explore the Aquarium and the town of Monterey before boaring the bus and heading to the Mission. The drive to the mission is so scenic and the rugged shoreline you are traveling alongside is truly beautiful. We saw whales in the Bay which added to the fun.

We made our way down to the Mission San Carlos and Carmel by the Sea. Just off the ship is Old Fisherman's Wharf and just past that is Fisherman's Shoreline Park that will take you directly to Cannery Row.

Had a little trouble finding public transportation from the Old Fisherman’s Wharf to Cannery Row. The shuttle only runs in the summer so it stopped running on Labor Day. But once we located a cab, he was great, affordable, and came back to pick us up later. We went to a Taste if Monterey at Cannery Row. It was wonderful with wine flights and great small plates. Loved their baked Brie! Very nice!

We have friends that live in Monterey. They picked us up and took us down Hwy 1 to Pebble Beach for lunch. Caramel is a good visit as well as Cannery Row. Beyond that, the ship does not dock, they anchor and transport you to shore by the life saving boats. That was pretty cool.
