We wish we could have seen more but enjoyed what we did see - although the tour we took was a little laughable - guide was nice and kept it interesting. We took the bus, train, canal ride.

The port was sketchy si we didn't wander around after our excursion. And the excursion was very disappointing. We did the Train and Tortuaga Canals. The Canal portion was fun but the train ride was terrible.

This was an ok destination, nothing spectacular. We did visit el canal Tortuguero on our own to save the outrageous fees on the boat. We saw exactly the same things as those who booked with the boat for less than half the price. We also did a little shopping once back in the cruise terminal.

Loved the kayaking trip though the alligators, caymens and crockadiles were waiting for me should we have capsized but felt safe in kayak.
