Review summary

We love cruising, and up until this cruise Princess was our favorite. This one missed the mark. We arrived late to every port, got very little time to see the local sights, things were a bit disorganized and it just wasn’t the greatest itinerary.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
It was fine.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The food was good in all the venues - probably the best thing about this cruise.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Pools were nice, as was the Movies Under the Stars. The spa had an unpleasant odor, like there was a bad drainage problem. Really made it not so enticing. I also enjoyed The Voice of the Ocean (except for the ending). For the end they should have let the finalists each sing again and then let the audience vote, it was over way too quickly.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The Broadway show was excellent (sorry I can’t remember the name). Best I’ve ever seen on a cruise ship, hands down!

Children's Programs

No kids

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
Our waiters were fantastic, but some of the other workers were sub par. There was a lot of confusion sometimes as to where to go (even on our safety drill the first day) and not a lot of direction. On every other cruise we’ve taken there are loads of people to help you and tell you exactly where to go. This was definitely lacking on this ship. Another day an older passenger actually fell, and while there were several cruise personnel nearby (and saw the incident) no one came to her aide. Her elderly husband had to lift her up, along with several other passengers. Very poor form!

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
It’s a smaller, older ship, but well maintained. The renovation (especially of the specialty dining options) was beautiful.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Excellent room, no complaints

Ship tip

It’s a small ship, you will figure it out in no time.

Ports of call

Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida Did not visit port

Had a flight home to catch

Princess Cays (Cruise Line Private Island)

5 out of 5
Beautiful beach, relaxing day. Rent a clamshell onboard the boat as you won’t be able to once you desimbark.

Cartagena, Colombia

5 out of 5
We loved Colombia. My only complaint is not about the port but rather the time in port. We really got shafted. We only had 4 hours in this port, way too little. We tried to get off the boat as soon as we arrived but it took forever (finally got thru the maze around 8 am) and we had to be back on the boat by noon. Highly disappointing! We did our own sightseeing without an excursion.

Panama Canal (Cruise Into Canal)

1 out of 5
This was the worst day. Unless you booked an EXTREMELY OVERPRICED tour thru the boat you were not allowed to disembark at all. (Our friends did a tour, extremely expensive and they absolutely hated it so in the end we were glad we didn’t spend the money)

Colon, Panama

1 out of 5
We were supposed to have 4 hours in Colon but our ship arrived super late so we missed the port altogether. We were not allowed off, they only stopped to pick up the passengers who disembarked in the morning (who were held hostage for 4 extra hours as they waited for the ship to arrive). I was completely disappointed and felt very cheated. I feel some compensation should be made when we don’t even visit a promised port.

Puerto Limon, Costa Rica

2 out of 5
This was an ok destination, nothing spectacular. We did visit el canal Tortuguero on our own to save the outrageous fees on the boat. We saw exactly the same things as those who booked with the boat for less than half the price. We also did a little shopping once back in the cruise terminal.

George Town, Grand Cayman

5 out of 5
Beautiful beach! We wanted to do the Stingray excursion but it was cancelled due to choppy seas. So we went to 7 mike beach instead and had a wonderful day at the gorgeous beach.

Disembarkation

3 out of 5
A little unorganized. We were told to go to deck 6 to the Coral dining room and wait our specified time. When the actual time came they moved us to deck 5 because something was wrong on deck 6.

Maybe some of the late arrivals were due to, weather, or result of past weather related issues, sounds like this was your only disappointment. Thanks for the review
