Amazing to learn about the construction, the difficulties, the lives lost, the function of the old and new canals and the huge economic benefit to Panama. Our ship paid $550,000 for a partial locks cruise.

Long, hot day on ship taking photos. Worth seeing once.

This was the worst day. Unless you booked an EXTREMELY OVERPRICED tour thru the boat you were not allowed to disembark at all. (Our friends did a tour, extremely expensive and they absolutely hated it so in the end we were glad we didn’t spend the money)

We stayed on our balcony. We enjoyed it more than I anticipated. Very interesting. We lucked out that our balcony was on the correct side of canal coming and going.

You DO NOT GET OFF in Panama unless you take a 4.5-6.5 tour, ship just sits on lake for several hours and then returns thru the locks(which is interesting)

Take an excursion. Many people stayed on the ship, and we really liked going on land.
