Just happy to go and see the much talked about Panama Canal. My favorite is still the Mediterranean Cruise.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Embarkation was quite fast in Fort Lauderdale.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
For the most part all the food had lots of variety and was delicious.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
Large fitness center; variety of lectures, varied entertainment. The outdoor movie screen was nice with a great classic like Grease, which looked even better on the big outdoor screen. Many recent movies like Cafe Society,
Three Billboards, The Greatest Showman, etc.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
Stage shows included magic, comedy, singers, mini musicals, piano player and the surprise entertainment, The Voice of the Ocean. On the latter the sensational house band backed up 7 passengers who sang their chosen song with 3 Cruise Staff as judges in the well known swinging red chairs similar to THE VOICE SHOW as seen on TV in about 160 countries. This was actually more entertaining that some of the acts that were flown in to the ship. Two singers sounded exactly like the original recording.
Children's Programs
I traveled solo with no children.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Everyone I encountered did their best to make the cruise special. The room steward even weighed my bag before I left the ship.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
The ship was well maintained with a fresh look. It was very easy to learn the layout of the ship.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
This 12th floor cabin had a desk, good size balcony, large closet, plenty of drawers and closet space. My complaint is the TV was too big for the room. The TV actually stuck out several inches from the shelf, in the entrance way from the outside balcony. I came back into the room, looked at the desk to the left to place my dishes, and the bottom corner of the huge TV banged hard into my right temple on my head. I rarely get headaches, but that week I took several ibuprofen. The bed and bedding was super comfortable. Princess even markets the entire bed and bedding for $1800 to $2100 for Queen and King.
Ship tip
Bring less clothing than you need. There are self serve laundry machines throughout the ship.
Amazing to learn about the construction, the difficulties, the lives lost, the function of the old and new canals and the huge economic benefit to Panama. Our ship paid $550,000 for a partial locks cruise.
Got tired of No Man and Yah Man. Went to beach with promise of colorful costumed dancers and live band. No dancers, no live band, but there was a guy with 2 big speakers and plenty of included drinks and food.
