Loved the contrast between the old city and modern skyline. Fort was great. We did the Fort/Las Bovedas/City tour thru Princess. David the guide was very good. Vendors in old city were very persistent but not rude. Due to mechanical issue on boat we were only there from 6:30 am - 12:00, which was not really long enough and was a bit too early. At end of tour when we had free time there were no restaurants/bars open yet for drinks. Las Bovedas weren't what I would call artisan shops, mostly manufactured products.

The excursion was not that good. To rushed and to many people would not leave us alone selling things. But we enjoyed the last part coming back on the ship seeing all the beautiful birds at the duty free shopping area

Did the bus tour, incl'g hilltop monastery and shopping stops (at places where we suspect the tour guide gets kickbacks). But the worst aspect was the street vendors who absolutely badger you to buy their stuff. Will not take "NO!" for an answer and leave you alone. Put me in a totally negative frame of mind to even consider buying anything from anyone or any shop. Way worse than similar shopping in Falmouth, or Puerto Limon, or Georgetown. They should take Cartagena off the itinery and add someplace nice. Oh, and traffic in Cartagena is a NIGHTMARE! I would NOT suggest anyone try to drive in it. Emeralds are hugely expensive, but will be discounted (your guide may be helpful in advising.) (price some at jewelry stores at home before going.)
