Not a lot to do in Belize, went on a city tour, it was run down and looked depressing. The people were friendly and kind, full of smiles and humor, and proud of their heritage, as they should be, but the city itself was tired looking.

This was my favorite port! The tour guide we had was awesome. Her name was Simone and we learned so much from her. The Mayan ruins were so incredible and I would go on this excursion again.

Travel via the water taxi in Belize went smoothly. The ride took about 20 minutes. We then took the Horseback Riding and Eco-Park with Lunch excursion. The ride there took approximately 30 minutes or so. The tour director told us about all of the plants that are used for medicine in Belize versus taking medicine. The horse I got was named Trek and he was a jerk. He didn't want to follow directions and decided he was going to go where he wanted to go. Overall a great excursion.

Belize was busy and the city was humbling.. We spent our time feeding howler monkeys in the jungle which was a experience I am grateful for. The local beer was not too bad. We did all our excursions through the locals because it is 100% cheaper than going through carnival. $40 to go to the jungle and city to feed monkeys. Great experience!

The port was great! We did a Mayan ruin tour and the people were very friendly. The street vendors are VERY pushy and Granby though.

Did the ship sponsored excursions to Lumani Ruins. Guides were fabulous and full of information. They provide historical information the whole ride there making the bus ride go quickly. Take plenty off water .

The tendering was insane! Our excursion was to Starfish Island (we won't do that again) and by the time we left the island and got back to the boat, we had to stand in line for another hour to take another tender to Belize City. By the time the tender arrived and everyone on it got off, we lost our place in line because people getting off jumped right back in line in front of all of us waiting for an hour. By this time it was 3pm and we were afraid that we would not make the tender back to the ship if it happened on land so we didn't get to go to the port itself.

We stopped here last week on Vista. Booked a cave tube tour with Butts Up Tours. Give it a look on internet, cheaper than the cruise line tour but takes you to the same cave...and they carry your tubes! Speedy, our guide, was enthusiastic and full of information about his country. Down side - we were a little rushed cuz of things out of our control, and Belize City could use a broom and dustpan... it was reminiscent of 3rd world class. At least they could get some work crews from the jail to pick up trash.
