We had a great time and enjoyed most of our excursions. There were some downers. $12.00 to see a movie on board, the system failing at debarkation, and the lack of a real walking track on the ship. You had to weave in and out of barriers to walk on deck 5, also the Sky Ride they advertise was down for maintenance the entire trip.
Embarkation

Quick timing for getting on the ship. We literally walked on the ship with no waiting.

Food and Dining

Food was delicious and the staff was so friendly and helpful.
Onboard Activities

The sky ride was shut down for repairs, they charged 12.00 for each adult to see a movie and 6.00 if you wanted to do their Fun and Thrills. We have never had to pay to see a movie on any of our cruises before this.
Entertainment

Most were very good. We loved the musicians in the main lobby and the comedian, Bill Walker, was fabulous! We would pay to go see him again! The stage show musicians did a good job but not the best we have seen on a cruise. Some of the stage shows were very good and others were mediocre.
Service and Staff

I have nothing but praise to the men and women that served us. Our dining staff was awesome. They called us by name and had our tea waiting for us each everting. Our room steward was great, every time we saw her she would ask if we needed anything or she could do anything to make our room more comfortable. The buffet staff was so kind, they always seemed so happy to be working. I loved learning about their countries of origin and what brought them to the cruise line. We are truly blessed here in the USA.
Ship Quality

Cleanliness was great but the design had one issue. We don’t smoke. I get very congested when around it, they have the casino right in the middle of deck four. The smoke in there is breathtaking, and not in a good way. We had to deliberately reroute ourselves to go to our dining hall. The problem could have been fixed since the ship was built in 2016 and put the casino in the back and the Horizons Restaurant in the middle. I know they want the money from the casinos, but that isn’t always good for the passengers. I watched people with children hurry through there telling them to not breath. Really, is that the memory they wanted the families to leave with?

The comfort and amenities we got on the Spa Balcony Room was amazing. We took advantage of the fitness center, thermal area, spa treatments, and spa whirlpool almost daily, except when we were at port. The staff there was very helpful and informational.
We had fun, there is a cute little restaurant on the island called ShyKatzs. It is amaizing. They have fabulous desserts, their sandwiches were big and worth the money with generous fries. We want to go back there on our next trip. The Hilton Island Resort was great and the ocean view was gorgeous!
We enjoyed the flying chairs and the beach. The wait staff was so helpful and you could come and go as you wanted so we ate back on the ship then went back to the beach saving a few dollars.
This was my favorite port! The tour guide we had was awesome. Her name was Simone and we learned so much from her. The Mayan ruins were so incredible and I would go on this excursion again.
The submarine experience was the best we have done and we have done that three times on cruises. The tour ended up being two sales pitches. The first took us to an incredible cocoa factory called Mayan Cocoa. It was great, very informative and the chocolate was delicious, (we had to buy some it was so good). Then we went to a Tequila factory. That was interesting and if we were drinkers it might have been a better excursion for us, but we were bored. We had to keep telling them that we didn’t drink as they brought over all they various drink samples. I asked if we could step out and go to a gift shop while that was going on, but they were afraid we would get separated and “there wasn’t one close”. That part was disappointing. I wish it would have been spelled out in the description of the trip that we would be touring two factories and not touring the city.
This was the worst of any cruise we have been on!!! Their system went down and we were stuck on the ship much longer than we or the crew expected. Their IPads for checking us out, quit working and had to all be reset, that shouldn’t have taken too long, but it did. It was nearly 11:00 when we finally got off the ship and started to our luggage, and we were the early group. Truthfully we left before they called our number because we were getting tired of being herded like cattle. Many of the people around us were unhappy. Sadly that is the experience on the ship that sticks in my mind and I am positive that was not the image Carnival wanted to leave us with that day.
