Belize was not one of my favorite places. We took an hour long tour of the city. We did get to see more than if we would have done it ourselves. But, it seemed so much like Mexico. The people seemed to be very poor, the housing was very poor as were the little alleys they live in. We did see the better part of the city, where the Governor lives n those houses seemed better but, not what I had expected for higher ups. Saw a lot of people walking, in shorts n t-shirts, with thongs on their feet.

I wasn't impressed with Belize. It's a tender port so that always adds time. The port area was okay for shopping and there are plenty of pharmacies but when you go out of the gate, it's a little sketchy. We took a tour bus ride around the city and it was uneventful but anywhere we stopped, we had to be "buzzed" in to the place of business and there was always one of our guides with the various segments of the group. Didn't feel extremely comfortable...

We did the Bayman City Trolley Tour through RC. This was one of my favorite excursion! Our tour guide was Omar. He was dressed like a private. He was full the knowledge and show us a lot of local culture. We toured the Traveller’s Liquor. Very neat and cheap rum too.

We hired a local taxi driver to take us on a driving tour of this port. He did an excellent job telling us about his hometown and he provided us with a broad sweeping overview of this city instead of visiting typical tourist attractions. It was an election day and we were afforded an opportunity to see the political process in action as we drove through the streets of the city. What a wonderful experience!!

Lamanai Mayan Ruin tour was interesting. Our tour guides Jade and Sydney were fun to spend the day with. Lunch was good. The bus drive really is an hour one way and then a boat ride to the ruin. Our tour ran late coming back but Carnival waited for our group to return.

Man... Belize has so much promise as a country but did not come off as a tourist destination to me. It's broken and people look like they're living in poverty. We took a bus 1.5 hours one way to the Zipline in the Tiger caves. The guide was great and knowledgeable, but there was no thrill factor.
