Belize is a swamp abandoned by the British. They made the right choice. It takes a long time to get to the river safari but the ruins are worth the trip. I would not spend any time in the city itself.

The ferry that takes you to the Belize is not recommend for anyone who gets sea sick. They won't tell you this but many people could not handle the rocking on the ferry.

Ride a sketchy boat inland but it was a NEAT place and I would recommend he top 10 tour there.

The tour of the ruins was very interesting, even in the pouring rain. It might be a good idea to announce the weather conditions over the loudspeakers in the morning so people would dress accordingly.

We visited the Mayan Ruins. While not as impressive as other Mayan / Aztec / Olmec sites it is worth seeing. There's a Restaurant that's situated parallel to the parking area. They serve a crisp tortilla with a Black Bean Sauce. It's worth the trip...delicious.

Belize is a very poor country, unless you go on an excursion, dont bother with this port, except for shopping. I went to the Mayan Ruins.
