ATV excursion is a must do! You will get dirty. Costa Maya is packed with many cruise ships in port at the same time - plan on: getting on shore early, staying on ship, doing an excursion, or embracing the crowd. Met many wonderful people on board. Ship itself was OK - some highlights, some problems.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
easiest embarkation ever
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
great drinks by friendly bartenders, OK food in buffet, good food in dining room
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
spa experience fantastic but overpriced; great first run movies; fitness center with lots of room, but outside fitness under construction; needs more ping pong tables to accommodate all; all pool decks over crowded, and lounge chairs stacked up and not set up for guests.
SportSquare
5 out of 5
loved it - yes I forced everyone else to play. first time mini golf had holes on two separate decks; made it interesting.
Entertainment
3 out of 5
comics very good; live music show just OK and a repeat of previous years with slight differences
Limelight Lounge
4 out of 5
Comics very good entertainment - only issue is the lack of seating - live shows in other venue much larger and never full, this one always packed
Children's Programs
no kids
Service and Staff
4 out of 5
mixed results on dining room waiters; room steward friendly and accommodating, but forgot a few things; guest services the best compared to all previous sailings on Carnival.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
they were constantly cleaning; would like to see more signage for directions in hallways - bow, aft, starboard, port - I had to keep walking to map by elevators to figure out where I was.
Cabin / Stateroom
3 out of 5
clean, comfortable, standard size - but ripped skirting on bed and bathroom door difficult to open and close - seemed to have hinge issues
ATV adventure and beach - ATV best ever, beach was a way for them to sell us food and drinks but service was impeccable; also had time to visit Carnivals private beach - great free way to enjoy a little down time - plenty of loungers, just wish had ping pong or put put course
3 ships in port - way over crowded - wish we had done an excursion here to get away from crowds - if ever revisit will make sure to do an excursion here and relax at different port.
