This is a hidden gem. Most people you this port to rest after Cozumel. But it is an absolutely beautiful place. We went about 1 hour 45 minute inland and it gets more beautiful as you go. Book the Mayapan ruins lazy river cenote swim it’s a Carnival only excursion but well worth the money.

The best part of this port was the massage I received. While on the beach, there were four of us who paid $50 for a table with umbrella, unlimited drinks (soda and an upcharge for alcohol) and chips/salsa. The service was the worst I'd ever seen and we were the only ship in port. We were there for 2 1/2 hours and received chips 3 times (had to ask at least 6 times) and 2 drinks. You could barely enjoy the scenery for all the people trying to sell something but it didn't really bother me. I was a military dependent and a retired veteran who has lived in many countries so I understood the need to make money for their families. I'm going back next Aug but will definitely book an excursion so that I can better see and appreciate the culture.

I actually enjoyed this port. Shopping was super cheap in town, $9 bus tour for 1 hour was awesome and the people were extremely friendly. the free bus drive from the port to town was comfortable and relaxing...not too long either. I would do this again.

Not my favorite part. The water is not that pretty. It’s definitely not Cozumel. We walked around town. It was a bit sketchy.

Took the Dzibilchaltun Mayan Ruins tour. Very nice tour. Shorter than others, but it was nice because the day before we did a Cozumel beach day which was relaxing, but tiring being in the sun and water for hours. I’ve read a lot of reviews stating this should not even be a port where the ship stops because there isn’t anything to do. There is lots to do, but it’s not a tourist port like Cozumel. It’s more historical. So there isn’t a bunch of bars and shops along the port and coast line. There is about 15 shops when on the port, but like you can just walk along the port and coast shopping like Cozumel. We rode an air conditioned bus to the ruins. The ruins were very nice. There is a lot of walking and some parts are shaded. The museum does have AC and there is a restaurant where you can purchase food. You can climb the ruins which was neat and the cenote was very relaxing. The water was cool. And the little fish would even give a free pedicure! Felt like little fish kisses. Our tour guide, Kumen, was very knowledgeable and open to questions. After getting a general tour with a brief history, we were left to go to the cenote, climb the ruins, or go to the museum on our own pace. Kumen stayed around speaking and answering questions. Highly recommend for anyone interested in history. This tour was less expensive than others and also shorter because the ruins are closer than others. Bonus: you are allowed to climb the ruins. Other tours do not allow this because the ruins are in restoration or for other reasons.

I can't comment on the actual port too much because we didn't walk around the port, but we went into Yucatan to Chichen Itza and it was really something else. Being able to drive through and see the cities that the locals live in and how they live was eye opening and an experience itself, so getting away from the port was nice. Chichen Itza and the Cenote was amazing, there's so much history and we could have spent all day learning about it. We loved talking with the locals and wandering around.
