Embarkation

I was fortunate enough to snag a last minute FTTF. Our check-in time was 11:30, arrived at 11:15 and was on the Lido deck at 11:30 ready to eat. It was my first time purchasing FTTF and won't cruise without it again!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
I enjoyed everything I ate. The Dining room and Mongolian Wok where definitely my favorites. I'm not a big fan of burger and fries but Guy's Burgers were great. The Blue Iguana and the chicken from the BBQ place were very good as well. I was however disappointed to see that the steak and lobster was removed from the menu on elegant night unless you purchase it for an additional $20.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Enjoyed Karaoke, the comedy shows, game shows and the adult games. Enjoyed the club but wish they would make it smoke free due to the confined space it's in. As a retired Army vet, I truly enjoyed having the opportunity to meet and take a photo with fellow comrades during the Military Appreciation event. Coming off the Breeze, the Valor does lack a little in activities. It would've been amazing if they had the Lip Sync Battle, Clue and the Thrill Theater.

Entertainment

I hate to say it but TJ the CD was the worst I've sailed with to date. The longest I saw him in one spot being totally animated was dancing at the club one night. He did mention that he's a new CD so hopefully he gets more training soon. Schwarz from the Breeze is one of the best if not THE best CD's so maybe TJ can get some tips from him. The stage shows were amazing! The Studio 54/Disco Era and America Rocks were probably the best shows I've seen on all of my cruises!

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
As always service and the staff were wonderful. Our cabin steward Bagus and his team were simply amazing and we never had to ask twice for anything. Our waiter Frank (table 442) in the Washington dining room was awesome as well. After the first night, he would automatically bring certain foods without us even having to ask and took excellent care of our table.

Ship Quality

After coming off of the Breeze, the layout was definitely smaller but nice all the same. The Lido lounge area chairs were limited so rarely found a spot to sit and the pool was out of the question.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
We originally had an inside cabin on deck 6. Two days prior to sailing, I received a call asking if I'd like to upgrade to a Scenic Ocean View room on Lido for $150. If you don't know what it looks like, Google it because it was AMAZING!! If all else had been bad on this cruise, (which it WASN'T) the size of the room and amazing view would've MORE than made up for it and was worth every penny spent!

Ship tip

A cruise is a time to share new experiences with family, friends and hopefully new friends you meet along the way. Everything may not go perfectly but try to remember that the crew and staff go out of their way to ensure we have an amazing time so try not to be so nitpicky. Cruising is what you make of it so lay back, relax and have some fun!

I've been here several times and always find something enjoyable to do. Booked the Dolphin Swim and Adventure at Chankanaab Park thru Dolphin Discovery Group. We swam with the dolphins and as a bonus got to spend 10 min in the water with the Manatees. The sea lion show was great and we enjoyed the all inclusive drinks and buffet. The park is beautiful but didn't have the time to explore everything. I will definitely be back again during our trip next year.

Progreso (Merida), Mexico

The best part of this port was the massage I received. While on the beach, there were four of us who paid $50 for a table with umbrella, unlimited drinks (soda and an upcharge for alcohol) and chips/salsa. The service was the worst I'd ever seen and we were the only ship in port. We were there for 2 1/2 hours and received chips 3 times (had to ask at least 6 times) and 2 drinks. You could barely enjoy the scenery for all the people trying to sell something but it didn't really bother me. I was a military dependent and a retired veteran who has lived in many countries so I understood the need to make money for their families. I'm going back next Aug but will definitely book an excursion so that I can better see and appreciate the culture.
