Not great for clear water but the beach is nice to sit & have a beer, snacks & roaming vendors. DON'T fall for the "You have to pay $50 to sit here routine" Tell them you'll purchase food & drinks to stay. Great for Shopping & bargaining. On the Main road to the beach from the bus dropoff, be sure to Visit the Leather Shop owned / operated by Richard ( former Floridian who moved to Progresso years ago ) Great handmade quality Leather Bags, Purses, belts ect: at great prices.

The airline took us here to meet the ship 2 days later because Delta delayed our flight due to mechanical failure therefore we missed the connecting flight in Atlanta.

We did the Mayapan Ruins, Cenote and Lazy River excursion with Carnival. This excursion was amazing! Even the lunch they served us was really good! I highly recommend this excursion!

We had originally purchased our shore excursions prior to leaving on the trip. However, on the first full day we received a notice that our excursion out of Progresso was cancelled. We had wanted to take the boat ride to Flamingo Reserve. No one told us prior to our purchase that it was no longer in operation due to lack of interest. We had to go to the shore excursion desk to pick another option. It was at this time that the woman told us that they hadn't had any one ask for this tour in a long time. I think they should have told us ahead of time or taken it off the tour options on line. At least they credited us and applied it to another one. We picked the Chichen Itza Ruins. It was a 2 1/2 hour ride to the ruins by bus and 2 1/2 hours back, which made for a long day. You get back to the ship about 30 minutes before it leaves port. It was a good photograph opportunity, but you are not allowed to climb the steps of the ruins.
