Ship: Carnival Fantasy

Cabin type: Inside

Traveled as: Family (older children)

Review summary

The ship was very small. The carpet and common area seating is worn and looks to be original to the ship (30 years old). Cruise director was pretty good. All of the staff were wonderful. The shows are just ok. Nothing to really talk about.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Embarkation was a breeze. Mobile has that down.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
All of the food is what we expected. The wait staff was wonderful as usual

Guy's Burger Joint

5 out of 5

This was my go to place to eat. Awesome burgers. I was a little scared at first, when we first boarded, all of the dressings for the burgers were frozen and crunchy. By the end of the day, all was well.

Onboard Activities

2 out of 5
The pool was closed more than it was open. The hot tubs were full of children wanting to swim. The water slides were pretty good.

The Serenity

1 out of 5

This is a really good area on other ships. It is in a good location on this ship. The problem was, the seat cushions were dirty and stained, and the hot tubs were crowded and small. One of my favorite areas usually.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
The stage shows were just ok. The comedians were wonderful. I would take this cruise again just to see them again.

Children's Programs

5 out of 5
We had 3 of our children with us. Ages 11, 15, and 16. They all loved the kids clubs.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Our waiter was the same every night in the your time dining because we requested him. He was amazing. All of the wait staff was wonderful. Our room steward was just ok. We asked for extra towels twice and never got. Asked for extra pillows and never got. But the room was always clean. Everyone on the ship was very nice.

Ship Quality

2 out of 5
The ship is very old. The carpet is stained everywhere. The seating is very worn. The ship has a lot of rust. There was always people cleaning the common areas however, you can polish a turd for a week but it is still a turd.

Cabin / Stateroom

2 out of 5
Again, the carpet was very stained. The rooms are dated. It has a “virtual window” that is just a weird recess in the wall with curtains. I think they should put in flat panel screens with live camera feeds to the outside of the ship.

Ship tip

There is a FREE private beach at Progreso.

Ports of call

Mobile, Alabama

5 out of 5
Port was easy to navigate and board the ship.

Cozumel, Mexico

5 out of 5
It was beautiful inside the port. Outside the port is normal Mexico. The vendors hound the crap out of you.

Progreso (Merida), Mexico

5 out of 5
Same as Cozumel but cheaper. Vendors still hound you. THEY HAVE A FREE PRIVATE BEACH.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
It was smooth.

Traveler Photos

Looks like a fishing trawler next to the Dream Empty most of the time

Man Fantasy left something to be desired for me. My son celebrated his double digit and he had the best time so mission accomplished
