This port was also very scenic. We took another city tour and had a blast learning about how people live and celebrate life living here. So rich in culture and good food.

Just a party town. Not much to do early in the day. Better to just lay on the beach or do an excursion.

Wish I had a lower rating than one star. Dirty, port is in industrial dock area, you have to be shuttled out for excursion and we had a nightmare returning to the ship. We returned by taxi and our driver spoke very little English. When we arrived at the entry to the shopping/shuttle area, a guard at the entrance would not allow us out of the cab. Shouting match with cabdriver ensued, we weren’t privy to discussion, but driver got back in cab and drove us around to the area to the north that was where we had exited the dock. We were met by a uniformed soldier with an automatic rifle. He was joined by several officials who once again got into a heated discussion with our driver. After much consternation, driver got back in cab and drove us back to the cruise shopping/shuttle area. Same guard, same shouting, we just got out. He started screaming at us and tried to shove my husband back in the cab. We had showed him our our ship ID card, and Driver’s lic. But he was having none of it. Couldn’t understand a word he was saying and soon there after the loud confrontation attracted another guard that over ruled the first and let us in. Unbelievable.

Segway tour and guacamole on beach. This tour took you down streets that I would have never done. At no time did I feel uneasy.

It was Mardi Gras this day so there were lots of decorations and festivities on the road. It would have been better if we got to watch the actual parade but we had to be back on the ship right before they started. We love Mazatlan as it's very cheap. We took a taxi to the aquarium and watched sea lions and birds. Then took another taxi to the beach and just relaxed for a couple hours. There was a restaurant called Panchos right by it which was very delicious.

Since we didn't book a carnival excursion for this port we decided to just stay in the port area since this port seems to be pretty unsafe. The shopping there was good. Found some cute souvenirs at a good price. You did have to take an open air shuttle to the port because you dock at a shipping container port but it was cool to be able to see them up close.
