Review summary
This was the best experience of ours in a very long time. There is nothing like taking a cruise with Holland America. We will be doing this again as soon as possible. I can't believe it took us this long to take this trip.Embarkation
We had such a great experience , this was our first time cruising and everyone was great helping us get to our cabin and anywhere else we needed to be.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
Everything was clean and the staff was fantastic. We had such great service, we never wanted for anything. I haven't stopped telling all my friends. We were able to have anything from burgers to steak.
Onboard Activities
We were not able to go to everything but we thoroughly enjoyed what we did do. The pools and Jacuzzi's were very well taken care of and fun to use.
Entertainment
The two shows we went to went well beyond how I though it was going to be. I was very intimate which made the experience better. The acts weren't just run of the mill either they were very good at what they did.
Service and Staff
Are you kidding me, our room stewards Juni and Robert were the best. Great attitudes and smiles whenever they saw us. Even though I know that is their job it still made me feel special. They took care of our every need. There was one gorl that worked in the Lido Market that asked me my name the first day and said Hi madame Miaja every time. Not many people remember how to say my name and it made the trip all the more special. I just wish I could remember her name.
Ship Quality
Very clean, no trash laying around. Smelled great at all time.
Cabin / Stateroom
Our cabin was the perfect size for the two of us. The only thing was the air conditioning didn't really work. We never asked anyone to fix it so it obviously wasn't a big deal. It just would have been nice to adjust it a little.
Ship tip
Definitely purchase a drink package whether it be sodas or alcohol.

Ports of call
This port was such a beautiful place. I am in awe of the people that live there. We took a bus tour and our guide and driver were the best. I love all the history and life they brought to the tour. We were able to see people jump off small cliffs, giant Iguana's, beautiful scenery, and finally a Tequila factory. I don't even drink and I had a blast trying new things.
This port was also very scenic. We took another city tour and had a blast learning about how people live and celebrate life living here. So rich in culture and good food.
This was the place where we had more fun walking around by ourselves. I feel there was not enough time to really do anything. We were able to visit a few places and we had a very good time where we went but it could have been better with a little more time.
Disembarkation
Our Disembarkation from the ship was lawless. However I cannot say that for the San Diego port. I live here and I was embarrassed that the person that was supposed to be helping people cross the road to get rides was the rudest person on the whole trip. I realize that that is not part of Holland America but I feel it should be mentioned somewhere. My whole trip was the most amazing thing I have ever experienced and then when I get home to my own town I have to listen to this man berate pretty much everyone that walked across the street and made the fatal mistake of driving in the wrong lane. I personnaly witnessed him berate at least 3 people in wheelchairs, people that were at least in their 80's who just needed a bit of guidance or maybe a little hard of hearing. We do not deserve to be treated like that ever. If he does not like his job than maybe that is not the job for him. He was the security guard on duty and I also want to mention that his boss showed up and he was just a s bad. Now I realize that it was raining and a whole bunch of people just descended in his area. But tough, that is his job! I did take his picture and took video but of course he noticed and shaped up while filming. Please if you can pass this part of my review on to someone.
