The ship was cleared at 1:15PM. We got off at 2:30 and there were at least four hundred people on line waiting to get cabs. I didnt see more than 10 cabs waiting. We gave up and went back on board.

There are a lot of water activities offered but do the rough seas they canceled most of them. Going through the Yucatan Peninsula is a must do, including a visit to a Cenote where you can swim and snorkel, plus a visit to the caves.

Took our own cab ride into Playa del Carmen, only cost $10 per cab. Cab driver had almost no English and just let us off at a random spot in town. We could find no beach lockers so ended up carrying our beach gear while we shopped. Plenty of rental umbrellas and chairs on the beach. Nice white sand beach but a little crowded.

Xcaret had been recommended, but it is pricey...we rented a jeep for 100 bucks and went to a beautiful secluded beach, toured the villages in Tulum, went to the ruins in Tulum and then to the Grand Cenote. If you want to avoid the 50$ parking fee at the official Tulum ruin site, you can take a side road and park for free...entrance costs are $5/person! The side road we took is where we found secluded beaches and lots of "spas" and high end hotels. I took some of the most beautiful pics here as the water is turquoise, green and blue with bunches of coral on the white sandy beaches. Traveling the road to the Coba ruins will take you to the Grand Cenote...$8 gets one person into the Grand Cenote where you can swim in underwater caves and see some of the most beautiful water and fish! We took our 4 kids (youngest 5 years old) and everyone enjoyed swimming here. We packed our own goggles and saved a bunch on snorkel equipment.

Calica was outstanding, as well! When we docked, we had absolutely no plans for an excursion. However, once we debarked the ship, we rented a Jeep with the local rental company and drove through Calica, Playa del Carmen, and up to Cancun. This was one of the best days I've ever had on a vacation. Just exploring the Mexican Riviera was a blast!

As you are not allowed to walk into town (which is much to far actually to walk, it cost $12.00 each way to get into town by taxi. There should be a shuttle service offered by the town or Carnival. There is nothing really to see in town but a small grouping of shops, and you are verbally hassled by store owners every minute that you are walking around amongst the chickens.

Wait to go to th city before shopping at the dock, once you return they (the sales people) will still be there.

WE WENT FISHING. IF YOU CHOOSE THIS BE PREPAIRED FOR A BOAT THAT IS A LITTLE MORE THAN A WOODEN ROW BOAT. ALSO BE PREPAIRED TO GET WET. YOU HAVE TO WADE OUT TO THE BOAT THAT IS ABOUT THIGH HIGH BUT WITH THE WAVES YOU WILL BE WET ABOVE YOUR WAISTE. ALSO THERE IS NOT LADDER TO GET INTO THE BOAT. YOU HAVE "CRAWL" IN. I AM SHORT AND HAD TO BE LIFTED INTO THE BOAT. THE SEATS ARE WOODEN AND VERY HARD ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU ARE HITTING WAVES. THE TOUR GUIDE THOUGH WAS GREAT AND REALLY WANTED YOU TO CATCH FISH AND HAVE FUN. OUR " CAPTAIN" WAS GREAT TOO. THEY ALSO PROVIDE YOU WITH DRINKS, WATER SODA AND BEER. SO YOU WILL NOT NEED TO TAKE ANY DRINKS WITH YOU. YOU ASLO GET A MEAL WITH THIS AND ALL THE DRINKS YOU WANT. THERE IS AN OPEN BAR., WE WERE OUT FOR ABOUT 2 HOURS AND 2 PEOPLE GOT TO FIGHT A FISH. ONE LINE BROKE AND THE OTHER THE FISH WAS PUT BACK. I MIGHT DO THIS AGAIN BUT WITH A LITTLE DIFFERENT PREPERATIONS. THIS EXCURSION ALSO HAS A BEACH ONLY OPTION. WHICH INCLUDE OPEN BAR.
