A nice sporty convertable is the way to drive the road to Hana. I would suggest bringing a lunch, the food is sparce and very expensive.

The road to Hana is beautiful, but takes an entire day to complete. Lahaina is all shopping.

This was our favorite. We did out Luau here and really enjoyed the atmosphere of Maui. On day one we went to Lahiana and on day two we went to a resort far from the port and enjoyed ourselves on the beach. We also did snorkeling here. We wish we had a bit more time here.

Lahaina is always fun. I recommend going to Hana and hiking to the waterfall

We rented a car and drove up to Haleakala. What a beautiful sight! It was just amazing. Words can not explain what the remnants of a volcano can look like. Something not seen every day. We also drove the road to Hana. This was so beautiful. A little scary at times because the road is a two lane road that occasionally turns into a one lane road. If you want the feeling of being in a tropical jungle(without the wild animals) I would recommend doing this. Youll see beautiful lush greenery and a prestige ocean coastline. The road is very curvy, so it takes about two hours to go 30 miles.

Sunrise on Haleakela was amazing. We did the bike ride down as well (out of 2137 total passengers on the boat, there were 9 of us that did this tour - if you appreciate the most amazing stargazing, magical sunrises, and feel comfortable on a bike (and don't mind a little speed going around switchbacks coming down the mountain), this tour was awesome....Make sure you bring warm stuff, as it's 20-30F up there and windy (it's about 10000ft elevation). If you can, get a rental car. It makes it very inexpensive and easy to get around the island. Whale watching in Lahina is great ("Ultimate Whale Watch" - Captain Amy is awesome)

We didn't stay around the port city, but took excursions to other parts of the island.
