Review summary

Pride of Aloha and NCL for the matter was horrible. I would never recommend anyone cruising this ship or cruise line. Our a/c was out the whole entire week. NCL claimed to be flying specialist in to fix some of the rooms a/c (about 250 rooms); however, nothing ever got fixed. Coincidently, on the first day of the cruise, another person on the ship found a hidden note in one of the life jackets claiming that the a/c does not work and it will never work, even though they say it will. In fact, for one day, the whole entire ship did not have a/c. The food was horrible. It all tasted the same...similar to Dennys. Also, Freestyle cruising was horrible. We often waited awhile to be seated. For the most part, customer service was bad too. Our room was presented to us dirty. This ship is a little older and you can tell. Overall, their was absolutely NOTHING good about this ship or cruise line. Most importantly, do not buy excurisons from the ship. They are sold cheaper through other vendors when you get there. Also, do not take the first taxi you see to a destination. Ask a native there and they will direct you to a much cheaper way of trasportation. PLEASE LISTEN: especially if you are newlyweds....DO NOT CRUISE PRIDE OF ALOHA OR NCL.......you will be very disappointed....GUARANTEED!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

1 out of 5
Freestyle dining was horrible. We waited too long to eat. The two main dining areas shared one kitchen so you often had to wait a while to get your food once you finally sat down. Then after that, to your suprise, the food was disgusting.

Entertainment

1 out of 5
We hated being on the ship so much that any time we could get off, we did. With that being said, we did not partake in much of the entertainment. But, as far as variety, I have seen better on cheaper cruise lines.

Service and Staff

1 out of 5
When it came to getting help, we were often redirected to other people because no one seemed to know anything. We ran into a few people who were friendly, but for the most part we felt belittled and insulted several times.

Ship Quality

1 out of 5
Like I said before, the ship is a little bit older, and this is obvious. It is a big ship, but everything just looks old. As for cleanliness, bring your own cleaning supplies because the rooms are drity!

Cabin / Stateroom

1 out of 5
The staterooms are very small and no more than two should share one of these rooms. The decorations were old and the beds were very uncomfortable. One very thin mattress with really not comforter...just a thick sheet. But, that was to our advantage since we did not have a/c the whole time. The rooms look nothing like the pictures as far as comforters and decorations.

Ports of call

Kailua-Kona, Hawaii

3 out of 5
A lot of fun touristy shopping here.

Nawiliwili, Kauai

5 out of 5
Beautiful...small and very green. The ocean seemed to be the warmest here.

Kahului, Maui

5 out of 5
This was our favorite. We did out Luau here and really enjoyed the atmosphere of Maui. On day one we went to Lahiana and on day two we went to a resort far from the port and enjoyed ourselves on the beach. We also did snorkeling here. We wish we had a bit more time here.

Hilo, Hawaii

5 out of 5
We enjoyed the black sand beach here. A lot of natives were present.

Pros: Did not like anything about the cruise...absolutely terrible!

Cons: The food was disgusting, customer service was bad, ship was dirty and a/c did not work the whole time!

Recommends Pride of Aloha? No.
