We spent one night in Venice before embarkation - it was our 4th time in Venice but definitely a place to see at least once in a life time

It was okay and I’m sure it’s a lovely place but it rained while we were there and it was really really busy

This was actually where our cruise began but we arrived in Venice 2 1/2 days early to make sure we had no flight issues and to enjoy Venice. Venice does not disappoint!

Just one day in a fascinating, but very crowded city. Be prepared for lots of walking.

We stayed 3 nights prior to the cruise, which i STRONGLY suggest. We loved loved loved Venice and can't wait to go back.

We overnighted in Venice at the hotel bonevecchi so we did not set up any excisions but you don’t need to. Wish we had more days to explore. We did take a gondola ride !

If you don't want to spend the money on the water shuttle/taxi into the main area of st marks square from the port (p&o is £15 each way), then take the people mover (just outside the port - you can see it from the ship) which only costs €2.50 return (machines have different language options so easy to use) and it takes you from the port into Venice bus/rail station. Obviously this is a fair walk from st marks square but it is well worth it and saves you a lot of money and you get to see more than what you would if just going to the square. As you walk into Venice from the station there is a restaurant called Brindisi on a corner - highly recommend!
