MSC Musica

6 Night Mediterranean (Venice To Genoa)

Sail date: October 12, 2019

Ship: MSC Musica

Traveled as: Couple

Review summary

Overall we were quite impressed with our experience on MSC Musica. We were not sure what to expect given some very negative comments online from others who had cruised with MSC Musica. We would not hesitate to recommend this cruise line given our positive and enjoyable short Mediterranean cruise on the MSC Musica.

Embarkation

2 out of 5
Ship was late arriving and we waited for hours to embark. The terminal cafe was ill equipped to handle that many passengers and the line ups for something to eat were very long!! My husband stood in line for close to two hours before he was served.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
We have no complaints about the dining rooms or the buffet.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Only complaint about the pools is that we personally witnessed a couple of occasions where people had staked their claim to deck chairs and then proceeded to sit at poolside tables all day and if someone came along to use the chair, the person would run from their table location to tell the person that the deck chair was being used. Seems this area is not as well monitored as it could be to allow everyone equal opportunity for deckside chairs.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
We quite enjoyed the Theatre performances each evening; well done!

Children's Programs

Did not have children with us

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
We have no complaints. If we needed something, we called for service and our issue(s) were looked after in a reasonable amount of time.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
We enjoyed the ship design and found the common areas and our stateroom to be clean and well maintained.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Clean , spacious and very comfortable- balcony was nice size and sliding patio door was an asset to maximize space and provide maximum view from cabin. Overall, very nice layout.

Ship tip

Disregard some of the extremely negative reports written by disgruntled passengers who would have you believe that their experiences are representative of everyone’s experience on MSC Musica. We understand that someone may have had a poor experience but don’t generalize that to represent the experience of all passengers on MSC Musica.

Ports of call

Venice, Italy

5 out of 5
We were in Venice for five days before embarking on this cruise.

Kotor, Montenegro Did not visit port

Port of call was changed to Dubrovnik and we quite enjoyed exploring Dubrovnik!

Corfu, Greece

3 out of 5
Excursion to Achilleion Palace, Perama and old Corfu Town. Our guide was not a trained guide, but rather a local. Her presentation of information and facts was not as informative or scripted as a trained guide so we found the excursion to be much less than what we had expected and had been used to with other guides. Our opinion re visiting the Palace is that it was a waste of time and money. We did not visit Perama and our tour of Corfu Old Town consisted of stopping to have coffee and walking past shops. We would not recommend this excursion.

Naples, Italy

3 out of 5
No excursion into Naples.

Livorno (Florence & Pisa), Italy

3 out of 5
Excursion to Florence. Enjoyed the sights of Florence but would recommend that the bus drop people off and pick back up closer to the historic part of Florence. Too much time was taken up walking long distances from drop off and pick up; precious time that could have been spent enjoying the beautiful historic part of Florence. We did not visit Pisa.

Genoa, Italy Did not visit port

Disembarkation day: end of cruise and had a flight to catch. No time to spend in Genoa.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Disembarkation was smoothly executed; no issues.
